Bobby Womack's Greatest Hits (United Artists pressing)

LP (Item 32420) United Artists, Late 60s/Early 70s — Condition: Very Good
Bobby's so great, it's hard to fit all of his good stuff on one LP – but this set does a pretty darn good job, and includes 12 tracks from his legendary years on United Artists! Hearing this set, we're stunned to realize just how many great tracks Bobby turned out over the years – especially because there's a few nice ones on here we forgot that he even did. Titles include "Harry Hippie", "You're Welcome, Stop On By", "Sweet Caroline", "That's The Way I Feel About Cha", "More Than I Can Stand", "I Can Understand It", "Lookin For A Love", and "Woman's Gotta Have It".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose

Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose
United Artists, 1972. Near Mint-
A wonderful album from this enigmatic soul group! Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose were one of a handful of early 70s groups – like Chairmen Of The Board or 100 Proof Aged In Soul – who had a sound that was incredibly hard to peg. There were bits of southern rawness in the vocals, ... LP, Vinyl record album
United Artists, 1976. Very Good+
Mainstream funk tracks with a bit of a disco twist – featuring lots of keyboards upfront, and popping basslines in the bacground. Brass Construction appear to be giving Radice a hand on the album – and the record sounds a lot like some of their work from the time, although with less ... LP, Vinyl record album

Willie Tee

Anticipation
United Artists, 1976. Near Mint-
Mid 70's album of funky soul tracks cut by ex-Gator Willie Tee, with a number of other members of the Gators, for United Artists. Don't go thinking that it's raw New Orleans soul, though, because the sound is a lot more polished, with more of a 70's modern groove to it. Willie's still got some ... LP, Vinyl record album

United Artists, 1960. Very Good
Early Detroit soul – the second LP by the great Marv Johnson, one of the first talents to be supervised by a young Berry Gordy! Soulful Strings

Paint It Black
Cadet, 1966. Near Mint-
One of the better albums by this great Chicago soul studio group – but all of them are pretty nice! The great Richard Evans is still at the head of The Strings, and the album features solo work by Charles Stepney and Lennie Druss, in a cool breezy Chess/Cadet soul jazz kind of mode. The ... Oliver (Oliver Cheatham)

Boss
MCA, 1982. Near Mint-
Oliver Cheatham sounds wonderful here – in that best bouncy style that made him a big favorite on the dancefloors in the early 80s – a groove that's still pretty darn great all these years later! The set features key songwriting help from Al Hudson and Kevin McCord, both of whom help ... LP, Vinyl record album

KC & The Sunshine Band Part 3
TK, 1976. Near Mint- Gatefold
Mega-hit material from KC & The Sunshine band – an album issued firmly into the disco years, but which still had the group hitting hard in their trademark Miami sound!
