Street Corner Symphony

LP (Item 18970) Capitol, Early 70s — Condition: Very Good+

A Capella revival material from this legendary 70s ensemble. This album's possibly their best, and features the sort of mix of material – gospel, soul, and rock – that made them big with the crossover crowd. Includes Dylan's "The Man In Me", Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready", Sam Cooke's "Good Times", and "Buffalo Soldier" – plus the group's successful "Temptations Medley".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Lillo Thomas

Let Me Be Yours
Capitol, 1983. Very Good+
A real 80s groover from Lillo Thomas – plenty of keyboards, snapping rhythms, and a sweetly gliding rhythm that beautifully supports Thomas' high-pitched vocals! The style owes a fair bit to territory first hit by Michael Jackson at the end of the 70s, but it still sounds surprisingly great ... LP, Vinyl record album

Let It Be Me
Capitol, 1987. Sealed
Audrey Wheeler's debut album – a really top-shelf effort crafted after years of lending her vocals to other folks' records, and a classic early stint in the group Unlimited Touch! Preston Glass handled production, and the set's about as sharp as can be for a mainstream soul album of the time ... LP, Vinyl record album

Meli'sa Morgan

Good Love
Capitol, 1987. Sealed
Meli'sa Morgan doing what she does best – pushing the envelope for mainstream soul, but often in really subtle ways! There's a majestic sweep to these tunes that's a real surprise – a class and care that takes Morgan's music past some of her poppier contemporaries, and which always ... LP, Vinyl record album

Isleys Live
T Neck, 1973. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
One of the hippest 70s albums by the Isley Brothers – a set that has them playing live with a stripped-down group, in a manner that's similar to other live albums of the time by Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway, and Bill Withers. The format is great, and really gets to the core of the Isley's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Average White Band

Put It Where You Want It
MCA, 1973. Near Mint-
Average White Band are most clearly associated with Atlantic Records during the 70s – and that label's genius move to record white soul acts for the crossover market – but this first album was recorded for MCA, and very much in the same vein as their later work. The record's not as ... LP, Vinyl record album
