Used Vinyl Grades
Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for
the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl.
If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws,
these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that
since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with
the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records
are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible
for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt
to listen through them and note how they play.
The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Wickedly fuzzy funk! Jimmy Castor recorded in a lot of different styles during the 70s – but the one he used on this album is still his best! The record's a non-stop guitar-heavy batch of classic funk tracks – and it features the storming break track "It's Just Begun", the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A self-titled set that features a nice batch of lesser-known gems from Sam Cooke's early 60s years on RCA! Lots of the material here is a nice contrast to some of the hit-heavy Cooke sets on the market – not that those aren't great, but it's just good to hear some of the other sides of Sam's ... The Pointer Sisters in their slick, sultry pop soul mode of the mid 80s – at this point doing the synthesizer soul sound as well as ever – with big hooks and more subtle stylistic flourishes in the production! The Pointers were on one heck of a commercial win streak at this point, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
A seminal set from Vicki Sue Robinson – arguably her biggest album ever, thanks to the leadoff hit "Turn The Beat Around"! That groove really sets the tone for the rest of the record – a tight blend of disco rhythms and crossover soul – all delivered by Vicki with a ... LP, Vinyl record album
An obscure bit of clubby work from the end of the 70s – at first glance, kind of an uptight disco session, but as things go on, a record with some really nice moments! The vocals are actually pretty good, and pretty soulful overall – with leads by Vivian Cherry, Gwen Guthrie, Janet ... LP, Vinyl record album
"The Blue Beat Is Here" – as the cover boldly proclaims – and so is Prince Buster, who's grooving along in an excellent rocksteady mode, laying down his incredible track "Ten Commandments"! The track's one of the most bizarre soul tracks ever – as Buster gives ... LP, Vinyl record album
A masterful album of righteous trippy soul – recorded during the height of the Temptations' strong association with Norman Whitfield! The record has more than a few political/social conscience songs – like "Take A Look Around", "Stop The War Now", and "Superstar ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the biggest 70s moments from underground club maestro Patrick Adams – an amazing talent who's best known for his work on his own P&P family of record labels – but who steps out here with an even tighter sound! The album's brimming with the sorts of sweet moogy touches that ... LP, Vinyl record album
