Computer Game (Theme From Circus)/Yellow Magic (Tong Poo)

12-inch (Item 35408) A&M/Horizon, 1979 — Condition: Used
Temporarily Out Of Stock

12-inch, Vinyl record

"Computer Game" is one of the best early singles from this famous Japanese combo. The cut's got plenty of electronics, as expected, but it's also got a wonderfully soulful groove – with some Barry White-esque strings that provide a nice degree of warmth, and help the cut hit a strong crossover audience.  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A&M, 1976. Near Mint- (pic cover)
Bass heavy funk from the Brothers Johnson and Quincy Jones. This track was the heavier b-side to their "Strawberry Letter 23" single, but is issued here as a double a-side promo, and while not as completely sublime as that track, it's a mighty commercial funk groove in its own right! 12-inch, Vinyl record

An early Madonna single – featuring some sweet Niles Rodgers production and some clubby Jellybean touches on "Like A Virgin"! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Sugar Hill, 1982. Near Mint-
Old school track from Sugar Hill's female trio that does not feature the classic Sugar Hill rhythm section, but instead uses a more synthetic sound, along the lines of maybe the Dazz Band. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Tonight/Celebration
De-Lite, 1980. Near Mint-
Well, you know you want it for the b-side, and you hardly need us to tell you anything about it. "Celebration" was probably the group's most enduring mainstream track, for better or for worse. 12-inch, Vinyl record
Factory/A&M, 1983. Very Good

Chocolate City, 1975. Very Good
A rare promo single featuring "Rigor Mortis" – one of Cameo's best tracks ever! The cut's got a funk vamp on the intro that you'll recognize from sampling instantly – and the whole thing's a nicely compressed joint with a full-on sound that the band rarely ever duplicated! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Columbia, 1984. Near Mint- (pic cover)
A big early pop number for the boys – and quite possibly their most lasting legacy in music! 12-inch, Vinyl record
Dakar, 1981. Very Good+
An 80s groove classic! This track has a killer sound that mixes bass-heavy funk with a tight electric keyboard sound – and it rips along nicely with a very catchy hook. The cut's one of our all-time favorites from this time, and it's got a hard funky groove that keeps on going! 12-inch, Vinyl record
