Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies

LP (Item 954075) RCA, 1981 — Condition: Sealed
2LP Gatefold
Conducted by Mercer Ellington, with Greg Burge on vocals.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Still sealed with a sticker spot.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sky Train
RCA, 1977. Near Mint-
Barry Miles is riding the Sky Train – and at a pretty fast clip too, given the jamming energy of this record! The album's one of Miles' most full-on fusion sets – but it's also one of his most soulful as well, thanks to strong use of horns on most numbers – with players like ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hardly the kind of country roads you'd find traveled by other musicians – as Gary Burton's sound here is incredibly fresh – still as groundbreaking now as it was back in the 60s! Ramsey Lewis

Maiden Voyage
Cadet, 1968. Very Good
One of the key records from the Cadet/Concept scene in late 60s Chicago – a tremendous collaboration between pianist Ramsey Lewis and arranger Charles Stepney – and the kind of record that took soul and jazz to a whole new level!
