Originally: 9.99
With selections by Peter Metro, Sassa Frass, Culture Paul, Cutty Ranks, Lenky Roy, Dicky Ranking, Screwdriver and Neville Lindo, Tanto Metro, Joe Mannix, and Jah Life Time Players.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has some peeling at the top seam and is bent a bit at the bottom corners.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Augustus Pablo

Ital Dub
Trojan (UK), 1975. Near Mint-
We're not entirely certain of the precise connection to Pablo here, as this set is credited as Augustus Pablo Presents, but it's excellent all the same – and there is some tasty knob twirling courtesy of the master King Tubby! There's some sweet melodica blowing over some rhythms that sound ... LP, Vinyl record album

Doreen Shaffer

First Lady Of Reggae
Pama/Economy (UK), Late 1960s. Very Good
Doreen Shaffer may not be the first lady of reggae, but she's got a wonderfully soulful style that works very well with the material – all in a laidback style that's in the best Pama Records mode! LP, Vinyl record album
Coxsone (Jamaica), Late 60s. Very Good+
An early classic from the Studio One/Coxone catalog – and a set that has a sound that's every bit as iconic as its cover – the kind of record that really helped set a new standard for soulful sounds from Jamaica! Bob Marley & The Wailers – Live

A great global showcase for the growing power of Bob Marley – an excellent live set recorded in London in 1975, and a date that shows Bob and The Wailers working with the crowd in this really universal spirit! The group's almost got a funkier current here than on some of their studio record ... LP, Vinyl record album

Desmond Dekker

Black & Dekker
Stiff (UK), 1980. Near Mint-
Surprisingly great later work from the legendary Desmond Dekker – a set that should have been a sloppy cash-in during the ska revival, but material that shows Desmond still very much at the top of his game! The production and backings show a bit of a late 70s British touch, but Dekker's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Black Heat

Keep On Runnin'
Atlantic, 1975. Very Good+
The third album from Black Heat – and quite possibly the funkiest of the bunch – thanks to an even tighter sound than before, and lots of emphasis on the bottom of the groove! Funky madness from the early version of the Ohio Players!
