The band is in great form throughout, with a talent for time and chord changes that displays many years spent woodshedding solos from their biggest influences. ... LP, Vinyl record album
Totally groovy work from John Dankworth – a 70s album that features slightly electrified versions of some of his older film and TV themes! The approach is quite different than the originals at times – with horn passages that are even quirkier, and some cool use of electric piano by ... LP, Vinyl record album
A rare electric outing from legendary altoist Jackie McLean – and one that comes off surprisingly well, given that the move was quite a shift for the reedman! The album's got a spiritual current that McLean developed in some of his earlier 70s material – like his gems for the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A set that's a bit looser than some of Dave Pell's other work of the 50s – with tracks that are slightly longer than usual, but still done in that wonderfully fluid Pell groove! Dave has a way here of keeping things tight, but letting the soloists step out strongly on their own – ... LP, Vinyl record album
