Alternative Man

LP (Item 676574) Blue Note, 1985 — Condition: Sealed

Saxophonist Bill Evans plays with Manolo Badrena, Hiram Bullock, Clifford Carter, Mark Egan, Mitchel Forman, Al Foster, Jeff Golub, Danny Gottlieb, Chuck Loeb, Sid McGinnis, John McLaughlan, Marcus Miller, and Lew Soloff.  © 1996-2021, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Still sealed, but shrinkwrap has a corner removed where a promo stamp was applied. Cover has a razor mark on front and is lightly bent at the top left corner.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Elvin Jones

Elvin Jones Coalition
Blue Note, 1970. Very Good+
A stunning early set as a leader from Elvin Jones – both a tremendous demonstration of the free energy he let loose after the passing of John Coltrane, and a set that's also still got some key Coltrane-esque elements! As with other Jones albums to follow, Elvin's got some key reedmen on hand ... LP, Vinyl record album

Chick Corea

Song Of Singing
Blue Note, 1970. Near Mint-
A key album in Chick Corea's shift from Latin jazz to arch-modern – recorded with Circle bandmates Dave Holland on bass and Barry Altschul on drums, and done with a free sound that's quite unusual for Blue Note at the time! Chick's out on this one – way out – in that free mode of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Conquistador!

Three Sounds

Vibrations
Blue Note, 1966. Very Good+
A pivotal album from the Three Sounds – one that has the group moving past the straighter trio format of their initial Blue Note sides, really hinting at the funkier sounds to come on their classic albums of the late 60s! Gene Harris is definitely taking a page from the Ramsey Lewis bag at ... LP, Vinyl record album

Elvin Jones

Mr Jones

Bitches Brew
Columbia, 1969. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! Pacific Jazz, 1961. Very Good-
An early vocal set from Les McCann – quite unusual, and pretty darn soulful as well!
