✈
A sweet little groover from The Blackbyrds! "Flying High" is the title track to the album of the same name – and it's a soaring soul number with great vocals, and a floating groove produced nicely by Donald Byrd. "All I Ask" is great too – mellow and laidback, with a combination harmonica/electric piano groove that's sort of waiting to be used as a sample. Very nice and a bit sinister, despite an easy feel on the surface!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Rays/Fisherman's Day
Funk Night, 2019. Near Mint-
A moody little funk track from the production genius of Misha Panfilov – whose work seems to be moving more and more into a category of its own! "The Rays" has a strange, spare vocal chorus that's abstracted and echoed in the production – used wordlessly alongside an echoey ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

A great little track – one that's best known as something of a Miami soul hit, thanks to versions by KC & The Sunshine Band and George McCrae. This version's equally great – but done quite differently, as an east coast type club track – lots of strings soaring over the groove ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
