The first of Branford Marsalis' two LPs to venture into the "acid jazz" or "hip hop crossover" genre, however you choose to look at it. Fortunately, he gets a helping hand from Premier on a number of cuts. Includes "Breakfast At Denny's", "Some Cow Fonque", "Some Sh*t At 78 BPM (The Scratch Opera)", "Hotter Than Hot" and "The Black Widow Blues".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Out of print. Cutout hole gthrough spine and traycard.)

Used CD Grade

We use the all-encompassing grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or packaging details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the CD. This might include, but isn't limited to, scratches, tracks that skip, case/insert damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Hard To Earn
EMI, 1994. Used
Gang Starr at pretty close to peak level here on 1994's Hard To Earn – and rather than continue to ride the waves they made on the previous couple classic albums, Guru sharpens the lyrical tone just a bit – spitting some more incisive rhymes over apporpriately gritty soul jazz beats ... CD

A hell of a comeback for Tribe Called Quest – maybe one of the best musical comebacks ever, and a fantastic reminder of why we loved the group so much in the first place! 18 years have passed since we last heard from the trio (now, sadly, a duo) – and that time only seems to have ... CD

The classic soundtrack to Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing – lead, of course, by Public Enemy's "Fight The Power" – and beyond that is a pretty wonderful, and not always as intense cross-section of some of the finer urban soul and New Jack Swing, circa '89, breezy vocal-centric ... CD

Jay-Z's first, classic, LP with hits like "Ain't No N***" with Foxy Brown but also a good supply of straight hip hop cuts like "Dead Presidents", "D'Evils" and "Can I Live". Includes the amazing "Brooklyn's Finest" with Notorious B.I.G., "Can't ... CD
