Tamla Special No 1

LP (Item 443841) Tamla/Motown, 1961 — Condition: Very Good-
A nice selection from the early years of Motown, showcasing some of the great Motor City soul talent that would go on to make the label one of the greatest movers in the R&B and pop world! 10 numbers in all, including "Money" and "Oh I Apologize" by Barrett Strong; "Way Over There", "Shop Around", "Depend On Me" and "Who's Loving You" by the Miracles; "Bye Bye Baby" and "Please Forgive Me" by Mary Wells; and "That's Why I Love You So Much" and "Oh! Lover" by Singin' Sammy & Sherri.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Rose Banks

Rose
Motown, 1976. Very Good+
Hip-strutting 70s soul work from Rose Banks – a singer with sort of a "bad mama" approach, emphasized by a kind of 20s-esque look to her costume on the cover. The overall instrumentation of the set is pretty good, though – not as hokey as you'd expect from that image – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Hot On The Tracks
Motown, 1976. Near Mint-
Early funk from the Commodores – back in the days when Lionel Richie could still get up and groove! Great cuts from the second decade of Marvin Gaye's career at Motown – really magic numbers pulled from that 70s period when he was really taking off with his music! Very high concept work from Stevie Wonder!
