Cool Ruler – The Definitive Collection

CD (Item 922541) Trojan (UK), 1970s/1980s — Condition: Used
2 CDs
$11.99 ...

Not an expanded version of the album of the same name, but rather a career spanning retrospective of the smooth, but lonely lover ruling coolly! Perhaps the greatest of the purveyors of lover's rock, who cut a number of wonderful roots and sufferer's numbers too, Isaacs also delivered the goods through the dancehall era into the 80s, and has continued to cut soulful, intimate reggae sides even up through the 90s! Loads of wonderful easy rockin' late night Jamaican vibes resound from these 2 discs, jam packed with 41 of Isaac's best cuts, including "Dancing Floor", "Look Before You Leap", "Loving Pauper", "All I Have Is Love", "Beautiful Africa", "Jailer Jailer (Bring Me My Water)", "Promised Land", "Dreadlocks Love Affair", "Thief A Man", "John Public", "My Time (12" mix)", "Get Ready", "Soon Forward", "Night Nurse (10" mix)", "Cool Down The Pace", "Love Me With Feeling (12" mix)", "Tenement Yard" and "Private Beach Party".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Orthodox Dub
Dub Store (Japan), 1978. Used
There's nothing orthodox about this 70s dub gem from Erroll Brown – as the album's an unusual set from start to finish – even in an era when so many dub records were being produced! There's an extra-raw sound to the whole thing – which might be hinted at by its cover image – ... CD

Dub Expression
High Note/Dub Store (Japan), 1978. Used
The mighty Errol Brown is at the controls in Treasure Isle – reworking some wicked rhythms played by The Revolutionaries – all with the stripped-down vibe of the best underground dub from Kingston in the 70s! Echo is heavy on the bottom-end of the sound – which makes the grooves ... CD
