Greatest Hits

LP (Item 848038) Immediate, Late 60s — Condition: Sealed
(Mid 70s UK pressing, still sealed with hype sticker under the shrink.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Immediate, 1968. Near Mint-
The second, and possibly the most ambitious album the Brit psych-art soul unit led by Keith Emerson's showy, dense work on Hammond organ and keyboards. The group always had a theatrical approach, which really shows on the groups nuevo classical, psychological comedy song cycle! LP, Vinyl record album
Sire, 1977. Very Good+
Alright, let's get this straight right now – the songs don't sound the same, they ARE the same and that's why we love them! If you found a way to concentrate 30 years of the best rock & roll into two and a half minutes of beautiful primal energy that still managed to qualify as ear candy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Heaven 17

How Men Are
Arista/Virgin, 1984. Very Good+
The last moment of greatness from Heaven 17 – and a set that continues the trend towards more soulful expression the group began with their previous record! This time around, the production is warmly touched with many soul-based elements that nicely offset the colder electro pop of their ... LP, Vinyl record album

John Mayall

Back To The Roots
Polydor, 1971. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
John Mayall's definitely getting back to his roots here – and he's also getting help from an all-star cast as well! Mayall's vocals and piano are in fine form – almost with a rough-edged Blues Breakers sort of vibe, but sometimes a bit funkier too – in ways that strongly show the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Made In The Shade
Rolling Stones, Early 1970s. Very Good+
Compilation of hits from 1971-1974. LP, Vinyl record album

Iron Butterfly

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
Atco, 1968. Near Mint-
The album that rocked a million dorm rooms back in the 60s – and for good reason, too – given that the title track is a side-long, totally jamming monster – the kind of track that was really revolutionary at the time, and which still has a hell of an impact all these many years ... LP, Vinyl record album
London, 1968. Near Mint- Gatefold
British blues meets LA's Laurel Canyon – a trans-Atlantic (or is it Pacific?) blend that makes for one of John Mayall's most compelling albums of the 60s! The album was recorded after the breakup of the Blues Breakers group – but it still features strong support from Mick Taylor on ... LP, Vinyl record album

Rolling Stones

12 x 5
London, 1964. Very Good+
Essentially early Stones! 12 X 5 is The Rolling Stones at a very early, hard grooving peak, way back in '64. It's ground breaking stuff, in they they truly pave the way for so much of the soul, blues and R&B loving Anglos to come out of the Brit and US scenes in the months and years to come. ... Donovan

Cosmic Wheels
Epic, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold

Lakeside

Fantastic Voyage
Solar, 1980. Very Good+ Gatefold
A crowning achievement from Lakeside – one of the key albums to link Ohio funk roots with a smoother LA groove – all served up in a way that had limitless influence for years to come! Bass is definitely at the head of these arrangements, but there's plenty of great guitar too – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Embryo, 1971. Very Good+ Gatefold
A stunner of an album – light years ahead of Phil's earlier work in America – a bit funky at times, with some really open-ended modern sounds! The album features Phil with his incredible European Rhythm Machine – a group that includes Gordon Beck on electric piano, Henri Texier ... LP, Vinyl record album
Atlantic, 1966. Very Good+
A sweet early 60s set by Herbie Mann! After cutting a very successful side at the Gate in 1962, Herbie returns with an even broader approach to the groove – working here with players that include Ahmed Abdul-Malik, Dave Pike, Ray Mantilla, and Ray Barretto, on a set of long tracks that have ...
