An overlooked gem from jazz singer Etta Jones – an effort cut around the same time as her better-known records for Prestige, but one that's maybe done with an even hipper sound overall! Etta's nicely laidback, and hits that soulful, singing mood that makes her so great right from the start ... LP, Vinyl record album
Killer 60s work from Nancy! Despite the "easy" in the title, this record's a perfect batch of pop soul tunes – arranged by Jimmy Jones with a breezy style that works perfectly for Nancy's voice. The record features her big hit "Face it Girl, It's Over", which was ... LP, Vinyl record album
A later repackaging of the excellent Flying High album – easily the group's best album by far, and unfortunately, too often the toughest one to find! The arrangements here are fantastic, and the material is waaaaaay more hip than the Ellington and Basie stuff that they wasted too much time ... LP, Vinyl record album
The album that really put Sarah Vaughan on the map – a killer set that really showed how sultry jazz vocals could sound in the postwar years – never overtone, nor torchy-cliched – but right on the money, with a sense of grace and poise that few others can match – even after ... LP, Vinyl record album
A very groovy set of standards and 60s pop tunes – all done by Nancy in her great soulful swinging style! The record's got far more to offer than you'd guess from the track list, as Nancy's at the height of her early career here – and she's getting backing from a very sympathetic west ... LP, Vinyl record album
A key later album in the career of Perry Como – and a record that has him hitting a nicely mature sort of sound! The title track was a big hit for Perry, and is still relatively well-remembered now – but the whole set is pretty darn great – with swirling strings that couch a ... LP, Vinyl record album
Sweet arrangements from Ernie Freeman – who gives Frank Sinatra that great little bounce that made the title hit, and so many other 60s tunes, so great! Titles include "That's Life", "Sand & Sea", "What Now My Love", "Tell Her", "Give Her ... LP, Vinyl record album
The roots of Dino's country style with arrangements by Don Costa. The style here is different from the hit Jimmy Bowman sound of Dean's stone cold country work of the mid to late 60s for Reprise – with a feel that's a bit more in the country pop vocal mode of 50s singers like Jim Reeves or ... LP, Vinyl record album
A masterpiece – and don't pass it up! Sure, the date's a bit later than some of Roy's classic work, but the record's got a sound like no other – with a slow mellow jazzy style that shows Roy working at the height of his powers! There's some wonderful spacey production on the record ... LP, Vinyl record album
Barry White's got plenty to give here – a massive classic from his legendary early 70s years – and the first record to feature the maestro on his own as a lead act! The set's a masterpiece through and through – a sublime mix of soaring strings, soulful rhythms, and some killer ... LP, Vinyl record album
