LP, Vinyl record album

✈
❔
Sublime solo piano work from Art Tatum – on titles that include "The Way You Look Tonight", "There's A Small Hotel", "Dancing In The Dark", "You Go To My head", and "After You've Gone".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Verve pressing with trumpeter logo and deep groove. Cover has clear tape on all seams, some surface wear & aging.)

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Art Tatum Concert
CBS (Holland), 1973. Near Mint-
Solo work by Art Tatum, recorded with pretty high fidelity by Gene Norman at the Shrine Auditorium in LA! Despite the larger venue, there's a nice sense of intimacy here – both in the sound, and in Tatum's playing – which has a personal, speculative quality that's much more like ... Stan Getz With Laurindo Almeida
Verve, 1963. Very Good+ Gatefold
One of the best of the Stan Getz bossa nova sessions – and a record that features the great Laurindo Almeida on guitar – playing with more virtuosity than either Charlie Byrd or Joao Gilberto did on their collaborations with Getz! Focus
Verve, 1961. Very Good+ Gatefold
Oft-overlooked album that's actually one of Getz's most far-reaching of the 60s!
