One of the rare blues sides recorded for the Candid label – the imprint best known for jazz releases by Charles Mingus and others, but a surprisingly sensitive outlet for work by Slim – who gets recorded here with a great deal of respect, and just the right kind of rootsy tone for his music. Slim's piano is joined by Arbee Stidham on vocals and guitar, and Jazz Gillum on harmonica and additional vocals – both artists who also hit the very traditional modes that Slim's going for The sound is quite spare overall, as respectful as some of his later Paris recordings – and titles include "New Key To The Highway", "Blue & Disgusted", "Born With The Blues", "Just Let Me Be", "Late Afternoon Blues", "Harlem Bound", and "I'd Take Her To Chicago". © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
