This image is a general representation of the item and the actual product may differ slightly in terms of color shading, logo placement, borders, or other small details. Used items may have various cosmetic differences as well.
This is a grade we rarely use, as we try not to sell records
in very bad condition, though in some rare cases we will list a
record in such bad shape that it does not conform to the standards above.
A "Fair" record will have enough marks or significant flaws that it
does not even qualify as "Good", but is a copy you might consider
for playing, if you're willing to put up with noise and/or flaws.
An example might be a recording with surface noise so heavy that
it is equal to the volume of the music. For records listed as "Fair",
we will describe the extent of the condition in the comments.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A wonderful 70s live album from Marvin Gaye – a set that was as expansive, ambitious, and sophisticated as his studio work from the time! Classic stuff from the girls who emerged to become one of Motown's best groups of the late 60s years. Sly's still doing pretty nice for himself in 1974 – with a sound that's perhaps a bit warmer than on the early records, but still nice and soulful – and peppered with a good dose of funk! The groove is really great on the set – bubbling with a more "deep down" feel than ... LP, Vinyl record album
Although Sylvia Robinson made her big money during the 70s recording soul for the All-Platinum group of labels – and then went over big to hip hop with her Sugar Hill label – she still managed to cut a few soul sides during the 80s, and the work of Harry Ray is some of her strongest ... A bit less clubby than other Lime work, but still with a nice sense of groove throughout! There's almost a bit of crossover energy going on in the set – trying for the sort of hit that might have grabbed them fame back in the early 80s, but which sounds a bit out of place by the time of this ... A big breakthrough for Philip Bailey – and a record that was kind of a second-level explosion for the Earth Wind & Fire sound in the 80s! There's a definite crossover feel to the record – a style that takes Bailey's soulful vocals, and mixes them with lots of catchy hooks – ... LP, Vinyl record album
The story on these sides is that they were demos the Alan Douglas got a hold of, from very early on in Havens career, and then had overdubs laid down at a later date, in an effort to get them out and capitalize on Haven's post-Woodstock success. We actually like the slightly raw feel which ... LP, Vinyl record album
