Sublime vocals from Clarice Assad – a singer who's got some ties to older Brazilian traditions, but who also really makes things all her own – with a dynamic sense of phrasing that's perfectly backed up by some equally great instrumentation! Clarice handled all the arrangments – which blend flute, strings, vocals, and lots of deft percussion – but always in this lean way that moves along effortlessly with her beautiful vocals. The approach has all the fresh appeal of Joyce at her best – although Clarice is quite different overall, and often open to a much wider range of influences. Titles include "De Perna Pro Ar", "Passaros", "Fantasia", "Tempestade", "Why", "Lachrimae", "Dedezinha De Maio", and "Revolta Das Flores". (Barcode has a cutout hole.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Beautifully subtle guitar work from Marcos Amorim – a musician who plays an electric instrument, but can often make it feel as if waves of sound are just cascading out gently into the air – more tone than attack on the strings, with this style that's deft, but very unassuming – ... CD

The guitar of Toninho Horta is always a treat, but on this album it's made even better by some lyrically light flute work from Nicola Stilo! The set's got a dreamy quality that really gets at the gentler sound of Horta's work on guitar – and a few tunes even feature his vocals, singing in a ... CD

An incredible record – from the first off-key note to the last! The album's filled with some wonderfully moody LA studio sounds, arranged by Deodato, and a has a great swirling mix of sound that weaves around Jobim's lofty guitar and piano beautifully – complex, but still with the airy ... CD

Beautiful solo piano from Jovino Santos Neto – an artist we've loved on other releases from Adventure music, but one who really shines here in the spare space of their Piano Masters series! The isolation of Neto's instrument allows for even greater fascination with his subtle tones and ... CD

A pretty nice little collection of Maria's work for Philips – mostly from the mid 70s, when she was working in that wonderful baroque mode of hers, extra-dramatic, with lots of wonderful arrangements that propelled songs by Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, and others into a whole new territory! ... Killer stuff by Milton – and his first recorded session ever! The record's incredible, and is every bit as great as his more famous records from 1969 and 1970. The style is similar to those – with Milton's soulful voice ringing out among large baroque arrangements, filled with warmth, ... CD
