Jealous Love/I've Come A Long Way

7-inch (Item 713570) Atlantic, 1968 — Condition: Very Good+

(Red & white label promo pressing. Label has a few spots of white-out.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Archie Bell & The Drells

I Love My Baby/Just A Little Closer
Atlantic, Early 70s. Very Good
Two cuts from the early Archie Bell Gamble-Huff years. Stone cold Texas soul meets great early Philly production, and the result is two sweet soul cuts with a nice vibe. 7-inch, Vinyl record
Atlantic, Late 60s. Very Good
2 electric groovers from Eddie! "1974" has a date, but was actually recorded in the 60s – sort of a look forward to the funky future – but the real winner is "Free At Last", which has a catchy Varitone vamp, and a groove that's similar to "Listen Here"! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Southshore Commission

Right On Brother (parts 1 & 2)
Atlantic, Late 60s. Very Good+
A great rare one from this Chicago band! The cut's a popping 2-part instrumental – with conga bumping underneath, funky flute on the top, fuzzed-out guitar, and some wicked comping by the band! Worth digging into both parts, and a great hard groover. Written and produced by the great ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

Brighter Side Of Darkness

Love Jones/I'm The Guy
20th Century, 1972. Very Good
A killer bit of harmony soul – one of the greatest of the genre from the 70s! Brighter Side Of Darkness are barely remembered these days – but "Love Jones" is one of those cuts that will go on forever – a sweetly tripped out number with incredibly baroque production, ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
Curtom, Early 70s. Very Good+
Two classics from Curtis' first solo album! "Hell Below" is here in a shorter single version – leaving off the intro, and beginning smack in the middle of the tight wah wah groove. "Makings Of You" is a mellow track with a floating and baroque quality – strings and ... 7-inch, Vinyl record
