Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Copenhagen Concert Vol 1
Steeplechase (Denmark), 1959. Used
A well-done live set, with the kind of extended tracks that really let trumpeter Buck Clayton shine – working here with fellow trumpeter Emmett Berry, plus Earle Warren on alto, Buddy Tate on tenor, and Dicky Wells on trombone! CD

Jackie McLean & Dexter Gordon

Meeting Vol 1
Steeplechase (Denmark), 1973. Used
A great meeting of two generations of jazz – and one that really blows the top off some of Dexter Gordon's other European sessions of the time! The setting here is definitely one that's more a Gordon-based date – long tracks with rhythm backing from a trio with Kenny Drew on piano, ... CD

Steeplechase (Denmark), 1988. Used 2 CDs
Two different albums from trumpeter Red Rodney – but both recorded in the same stretch, and packaged here together! First up is One For Bird – and the title's plenty right, as the set's filled with tunes from the Charlie Parker songbook, as well as some of his contemporaries – a ... CD

Mike Richmond

Turn Out The Stars
Steeplechase (Denmark), 2023. Used
Mike Richmond is plucking the cello on the front of the cover – and within, he uses the instrument in a wonderfully fluid, jazzy style – really living up to the legacy of earlier work on the cello in jazz by artists like Ron Carter, Sam Jones, or Eldee Young! The group is nice and lean ... CD

John Tchicai

In Monk's Mood
Steeplechase (Denmark), 2008. Used
John Tchicai plays the music of Thelonious Monk, and a few of his own tunes too – in a wonderful set that shows beautifully why we always look out for work from this enigmatic saxophonist! There's definitely a Monkish vibe to the record, but Tchicai's approach is often quite personal too ... CD
Verve (Japan), 1962. Used Gatefold
A rare non-Blue Note session from The Three Sounds – recorded in the early 60s for Verve, and really the group's only straight album for that label! The style here is similar to the Blue Note sides – with Gene Harris firmly at the helm of the group on piano – hitting that fluidly ... CD
Venus (Japan), 1992. Used
Beautifully mellow work from the great Marion Brown – playing here in a laidback quintet setting that brings out some of his most soulful tones. The group includes piano, guitar, bass, and drums – but the main focus is on the alto of Brown, which has a warm world-weary tone that's very ... CD
