Jimmy Lyons' recordings for BYG/Actuel are among some of the best for the label, and this one from 1969 is a stellar session that features Lester Bowie on trumpet, Alan Silva on bass, and Andrew Cyrille on drums. All players are excellent, and they play together in a set of free tracks in which Cyrille drives everyone onto new heights with a steady singing pulse.
