Islands

LP (Item 659187) Island (UK), 1972 — Condition: Very Good+
Also available
King Crimson — Islands ... CD 6.99
One of our favorites by King Crimson – and a record with a lot more jazz than some of their others! Players include Mel Collins on lots of flutes and saxes – plus guests Keith Tippett on piano, Mark Charig on cornet, and Harry Miller on bass!  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(EG/Jem US pressing. Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

John Cale

Fear
Island, 1974. Very Good+
One of the best solo albums ever from John Cale – a set that has the singer playing a lot of piano alongside his vocals, which creates this moody, evocative quality that's really wonderful! Spooky Tooth

Witness
Island, 1973. Very Good
A further deepening of the Spooky Tooth sound – on an album that seems to have a headier approach to the lyrical themes, which is also echoed by the vocals of Gary Wright, and the energy of the rest of the group! These guys are still a blues-influenced rock group at the core – and are ... LP, Vinyl record album

Traffic

Traffic
Island/United Artists, 1968. Near Mint- Gatefold
The second album from Traffic, and a set that forever cemented their legacy in the annals of modern music – a set that has Dave Mason returning to the group after a brief hiatus, and maybe helping the quartet find a tighter, rootsier sound overall! Island, 1971. Sealed
A huge album from Traffic – a set that was first given to the world in a strange-shaped cover – which seemed to grace countless record collections back in the 70s! BTF (Italy), 1972. Sealed
A pretty great 70s set from the Italian scene – one that features contributions from avant composer Franco Battiato, but at a level that's very different than his own albums of the time!
