CD

A wonderful collection of work from this hip New Orleans singer – a set that brings together his full work from the R&B years – with classic Imperial Records material from the 50s, plus later sides for the Sho-Biz, Ron, and Rip Records labels! The package features 47 songs in all, in a really great box set – which, along with the big booklet of notes, finally gives Bobby his due!  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible. All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

With our Used CDs, you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks — clean, and not dirty at all. You can also expect the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves — putting fresh cases on Used CDs we handle) — and you can expect the booklet to be in good shape, unless noted otherwise. We will list any specific details/defects underneath the item — so look for notes on cutout marks in the case, stamps on the barcode, or details like that.

Fantastic work from this sublime Harmony group – not only early Mercury doo wop sides, but also some later work for Smash Records too! CD
Reflections
Arista (Germany), 1981. Used
A great little album that's often overshadowed by its hit – the 15 minute "B-Movie", which was sort of an overly-wrought protest piece about how the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980 was going to turn America into a bad b-movie. Not that that track's bad – although its ... CD
Capitol, Late 70s. Used
Nice 17 track compilation of Minnie's classic work for Capitol! The selection is excellent, and the CD features most of the stuff you'd ever want to have by her, including "Perfect Angel", "Memory Lane", "Lovin You", "Stick Together", "Inside My ... CD
Philadelphia International/Legacy, 1970s. Used
Groundbreaking work, and a killer piece of Philly groove! MFSB were a large conglomeration of studio players who graced some of the first big Philly hits in the 70s, and here they break out on their own in a remarkable set of pre-disco tunes that form the blueprint for the rest of the 70s ... CD
Goin' Places
Buddah/Right Stuff, 1977. Used
Massive work from Michael Henderson – exactly the kind of record we point to when people ask us what all the fuss is about! Michael perfectly blends funky jazz, mellow fusion, and his own warm style of vocals here – in a sophisticated mix that puts him right at the top of the 70s ... CD
Best Of Gil Scott-Heron
Arista, 1984. Used
A nice best-of collection of Gil's work on Arista – issued in the 80s, with Gil looking terrible in a "Members Only" kind of way on the cover, and with the extra new track "Re-Ron", an electro track about Ronald Reagan! Still, there's more than enough nice moments – ... CD
Philadelphia International, 1975. Used
A great sense of righteousness and groove – the key mix that made the O'Jays so great back in the day – and which really helped put the Philly International enterprise on the map! The album's miles from the group's simple harmony soul roots – even though those were pretty darn ... CD
20th Century, 1975. Used
Kind of a "greatest hit" of greatest hits compilations – a set that's probably sold more copies than any of Barry White's full length albums – thanks to a monstrous run of hits in the 70s! The package is overflowing with greatness – amazing tunes that balance funky ... CD
Bluebird, Early 70s. Used
A really tremendous album from the legendary Gil Scott-Heron – and a set that stands as one of his greatest statements from the 70s! The record is a wonderful example of Gil's work in two different styles – sweet mellow jazzy soul, and harder heavier protest poetry – the latter ... CD
Something About You
Arista, 1981. Used
A soaring classic from Angie Bofil – a record that stands as one of the most perfect demonstrations of her upbeat, positive approach to soul! There's a stile here that seems to be a bit in the legacy of Minnie Riperton – especially the way that Narada Michael Waldon brings in some ... CD

Epic/Luaka Bop, 1974. Used
An insanely wonderful album! Shuggie Otis is the son of Johnny Otis – the LA R&B maestro who was moving heavily into funk at the end of the 60s – and he has this tripped out, super-dope guitar style that he played to strong effect on Johnny's albums of the late 60s and early 70s, ... CD
