Every Which Way But Loose

LP (Item 593239) Elektra, 1978 — Condition: Very Good+
Gatefold
Includes selections by Eddie Rabbitt, Mel Tillis, Charlie Rich, Hank Thompson, and others.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jack Nitzsche, Captain Beefheart & Others

Blue Collar – Original Soundtrack
MCA, 1978. Near Mint-
Some choice soundtrack work from Jack Nitzsche's prime 70s period, with a handful other tracks by Howlin' Wolf, Captain Beefhaeart and Ike & Tina Turner. For the most part the soundtrack is bluesy rootsy stuff, to go along with the slant of the film, but there is a great funky break on the ... LP, Vinyl record album
RCA (Italy), Late 60s. Very Good+
A cool Italian album – featuring one side of the soundtrack of Per Qualche Dollaro In Piu (aka For A Few Dollars More), and the score to Per Un Pugno Di Dollari (aka Fistful Of Dollars)! The songs are short, but tense – and mix plodding solo instrumentation with some sparer dramatic ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kenyon Hopkins

Yellow Canary
Verve, Mid 60s. Very Good+
A lost jazzy score by Kenyon Hopkins – similar to his more famous work from the time, and featuring a great small group of players that includes Lalo Schifrin on piano, Zoot Sims on tenor, Kenny Burrell on guitar, and Clark Terry on trumpet. Tracks alternate between some really swinging ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kenyon Hopkins

Eleven Against The Ice
RCA, 1958. Very Good
A slightly more dramatic score from Kenyon Hopkins, an artist we mostly know from more jazz-based work – but a set that still uses his strong sence of color and tone in a great way. LP, Vinyl record album
Phase 4/London, 1974. Near Mint-
Includes themes from Journey To The Center Of The Earth, The Seventh Voyage Of Sinbad, The Day The Earth Stood Still, and Fahrenheit 451. LP, Vinyl record album
United Artists, 1968. Near Mint-
Great stuff! This is the "alternate" version of Michel Legrand's great score to Les Demoiselles De Rochefort – and it's totally great all the way through! The whole thing's nice and jazzy, totally swinging, and has a groove that you don't get in some of Legrand's other work. We've ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jim Helms

Kung Fu
Warner, 1973. Near Mint-
Not as much of an all-out funk party as some other kung fu soundtracks of the 70s – but a really great record that's filled with plenty of great spoken bits too! The album's the soundtrack to the Kung Fu TV show, which starred David Carradine – and it's mostly made up of "Eastern&q ... LP, Vinyl record album

Phil Ochs really opens up his sound on this one – working with larger arrangements that make the album sound quite different than the stark, angry folk of his Elektra albums – in a way that creates an even more complicated approach to Ochs' themes cynicism and bitterness.
