An excellent set from trumpeter Tom Harrell – who has been knocking out one teriffic set after another for High Note since the mid 00s, to say nothing of all the great work he did in preceding years – and Time Of The Sun stands strongly up against his very best! He's delivering a post bop reverence with more experimental touches, unexpected twists and turns with subtle, leftfield sounds. That said, there's a tight interplay throughout, the more angular touches never getting in the way of a cohesive flow. He's playing with a group that includes Wayne Escoffery on tenor, Danny Grissett on piano and Rhodes, Ugonna Okegwo on bass and Jonathan Blake on drums.
