Female Trouble

LP (Item 586327) EMI, 1987 — Condition: Sealed
(Still sealed with hype sticker.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band

One of the most creative club acts of the 70s – the mighty Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band! Before starting his Kid Creole & the Coconuts combo, August Darnell worked to great fame with Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band – kind of a campy, jazzy ensemble – one that ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ashford & Simpson

Musical Affair
Warner, 1980. Very Good
Near-perfect work from Ashford & Simpson – really grooving in full powerhouse mode here, and never missing a beat! Temptations

Song For You
Motown, 1975. Very Good+
A tightly funky set from The Temptations – a record that has the group still standing strong in the post-Norman Whitfield years – working here with producer Jeffrey Bowen in a groove that's almost got some P-Funk touches at times! Having A Party
Blue Thumb, 1977. Sealed
The name may be a bit hokey, but this is one heck of a great little record – every bit as sly and funky as work on the group's excellent Steppin album! Chas Jankel

Questionnaire
A&M, 1981. Near Mint-
An overlooked bit of crossover funk from Chas Jankel – best known both as the musical force of Ian Dury & The Blockheads during the late 70s, and as the composer of "Ai No Corrida", which was covered more famously by Quincy Jones! This set's got a surprisingly great feel that's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Howard Hewett

I Commit To Love
Elektra, 1986. Near Mint-
An 80s classic from Howard Hewett – just the kind of set that made the singer one of the freshest voices in soul at the time! Touch To Touch
TK/Glades, 1977. Near Mint-
A massive groover from Timmy Thomas – really hitting here on all burners, and moving with a groove that's much fuller than the drum machine fills of his early years!
