A classic Kessel album for Contemporary – one that features Barney's guitar in a set of slightly larger backings, all arranged by Barney himself! The approach is a bit different from some of Kessel's more stripped-down albums of the time – as Barney works with instrumentation that includes a fair bit of flute and clarinet work by players who include Buddy Collette, Jules Jacob, George Smith, and Ted Nash – all supported by straighter piano, bass, and drum rhythms. The mix of guitar and reeds is quite nice, and makes for a warmly lyrical sound on the set – a sound that Kessel is perfectly suited for – nicely sophisticated without getting too coldly academic. Titles include "Blues For A Playboy", "Cheerful Little Earful", "My Reverie", "Carioca", "Indian Summer", "Fascinating Rhythm", and "I Love You". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
