If you've ever wondered why Maze cut so many live albums in their career, listen to this one and wonder no further. This great live set recorded in LA is filled with the kind of tight, yet mellow soul grooves that made the group huge in the late 70's and early 80's. The live performances add new life to older favorites, and they open up the songs a bit more than other live albums by contemporary soul performers. With (of course) "Joy And Pain", plus "Running Away", "Happy Feelings", "We Are One", and "I Wanna Be With You". (Includes the printed inner sleeves. Cover has a cutout hole and some wear.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Taste Of Honey
Capitol, 1978. Near Mint-
Probably the most successful album the Mizell Brothers ever produced, and a fine set of uptempo groovers from this female soul duet! There's some nice jazzy moments underneath the catchy lyrics, and in a way, the album's style is sort of a blueprint for the sound that would emerge over the next ... LP, Vinyl record album

On Stage!
Capitol, 1957. Very Good+
Wonderful vocal group soul from The Five Keys – easily one of the tightest, sharpest, most sophisticated groups of their generation! A dozen numbers in all, including "Just For A Thrill","Who Do You Know In Heaven", "Maybe You'll Be There","Tiger Lily" ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kool Jazz
De-Lite, Early 70s. Very Good+
A great album – even if most of the cuts are on other records! The set's designed to focus on the jazzier side of Kool & The Gang – and it sifts through the first few albums to come up with some of the more sophisticated (yet still totally funky!) numbers by the band, giving a good ... Out Among 'Em
Roulette, 1975. Sealed
A sweet set of 70s Latin Disco – less Afro-Cuban than you might expect, but a great illustration of the way that older Latin modes had filtered down to more mainstream dancefloors at the time! There's definitely still some Latin elements in the mix – but the set's also got Michael ... LP, Vinyl record album

Funky soul covers from a host of hit blacksploitation films – played in fresh new versions by the mysterious Super Dudes!
