My Baby Loves Lovin

LP (Item 523813) Deram/London, 1970 — Condition: Near Mint-
A power pop powerhouse – a group who will forever be remembered for the classic title track to this set, but who also manage to deliver the goods all the way through! The whole album's a stunning showcase for the work of Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook – producers and co-writers of some of the album's best tunes – which have a jaunty, catchy vibe that really prefaces 70s AM radio, and does a great job of building a bridge forward from earlier 60s pop styles. Some of the themes are deeper, but others are lighter – and the production has this way of fusing everything together in this monstrous wall of sound, but without ever sounding as slick as mainstream pop might a few years later. Titles include the classic "My Baby Loves Lovin", plus "In A Moment Of Madness", "You've Got Your Troubles", "Today I Killed A Man I Didn't Know", "Sunny Honey Girl", "When Tomorrow Comes Tomorrow", and "Young Birds Fly".  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Tom Waits' final album for Asylum – and one that clearly points the way towards the rawly rhythmic, murky atmospherics of his wilder Island years to come – while still bringing out the woozy, gruff balladeer of the earlier albums!
