Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

2 of the best 60s albums by Brother Jack McDuff! Tobacco Road first appears to be just a bunch of jazz covers of standards and pop tracks – like "Tobacco Road", "Shadow Of Your Smile", "This Bitter Earth", and "Teardrops From My Eyes" – but Jack's ... CD

The MJQ always manage to sound especially great when working on music for film – and this album's a great illustration of that fact! The work here is written by John Lewis, for a movie that never lasted the test of time as much as the record – and it's some of John's most evocative ... CD

Hank Crawford/Leo Wright

Soul Clinic/Blues Shout
Atlantic/Collectables, 1960/1961. Used
2 lost soul jazz classic from the Atlantic catalog! Hank Crawford's Soul Clinic is one of the few albums we really like by him, and it features the soulful altoist playing in a group with David Fathead Newman and some other lesser-known players who are nice and soulful. The set's got some warm ... CD
Atlantic/Collectables, 1955/1956. Used
These two records for Atlantic represent some of the best Shorty Rogers work of the 50s! Unlike his RCA sessions, which could get a bit too formulaic, both of these are a bit more open-ended, with slightly longer tracks than usual, and with different groupings of west coast players (Jimmy Giuffre, ... Hank Crawford

True Blue/Double Cross
Atlantic/Collectables, 1964/1968. Used
2 classics from Hank's Atlantic years! Hank Crawford shows his roots with Ray Charles on True Blue, an album of short R&B tinged instrumentals with a deep gutbucket feel to them. He's backed by some larger groups that includes players like James Clay, Sonny Forriest, John Hunt, and Wilbur ... CD
Atlantic, 1963. Used
After years of staying free of comparisons with Charlie Parker, Sonny Stitt steps confidently into a set of compositions by the late, great one – sounding really wonderful in his own interpretations of these classics!
