A sweet early cooker from King Curtis – recorded with a raw sound and a sense of fire that most of his other albums from this time didn't have! Part of the difference here is the setting – as the album's cut for Prestige's Tru-Sound subsidiary, which tended to have a rougher, more R&B approach. But another key factor is the group on the set – as it includes Jack McDuff on organ, Billy Butler and Eric Gale on guitars, and Willie Rodriguez on bongos and congas – all of whom make for some great added attractions to the record, and a really cohesive sound that's way more than just King blowing away on sax!
