Electric Love

LP (Item 2280) Limelight, 1969 — Condition: Very Good
A great version of moogy pop from the moog pop era of the late 60s – served up with a slightly sexy vibe, as you might guess from the title and the cover! The set's got a great electronic take on the Serge Gainsbourg classic "Je T'aime Moi Non Plus", plus versions of "Stella By Starlight", "Goin Out Of My Head", "The Look Of Love", "Like A Lover", and "This Guy's In Love With You". A nice groove, and slightly funky in a very groovy way!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo pressing.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Carmen Cavallaro

With That Latin Beat
Decca, 1959. Very Good+
The frenzied piano of Carmen Cavallaro gets a nice does of Latin rhythms on this set – and the set's a great example of the way that cocktail piano and Latin were strongly linked in the New York scene of the 50s! Carmen's style here is certainly different than that of Joe Loco, Noro Morales, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mariachi Brass with Chet Baker

Taste Of Tequila
World Pacific, 1966. Near Mint-
A strange 60s chapter in the career of trumpeter Chet Baker – but one that we sure like a heck of a lot! These sides were recorded as an answer to the big success of Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass over at A&M Records – and for the sessions, Chet's trumpet was backed by jaunty, ... Split Level

Divided We Stand
Dot, Late 60s. Near Mint-
Groovy folksy pop, with some weird instrumentation like electric sitar, thumbtack piano, and "nerves". Tracks include "Looking at the Rose Through World Colored Glasses", "Do Not Speak but Sing", and "Think of Rain". LP, Vinyl record album

Martin Denny

Exotic Love
Liberty, 1968. Near Mint-
An overlooked gem from Martin Denny – cut during a range of later sides for Liberty Records, but somehow a standout, thanks to some soulful undercurrents in the music! The arranger is billed as Harold Johnson – who may well be the same cat leading the groovy sextet over on Revue ... LP, Vinyl record album

Very groovy set of Now Sound instrumentals based around the work of Donovan. Great LA studio sound mixed with all of Donovan's groovy writing, and the result is some cool versions of "Jenifer Juniper", "Sunshine Superman", "Wear Your Love Like Heaven", and "Catch ... LP, Vinyl record album

Roland Kirk

We Free Kings
Mercury, 1961. Very Good+
A hell of a record from the young Roland Kirk – one of his first for Mercury Records, and the start of a great run of genius in the 60s! Kirk is mindblowing here – playing tenor, flute, manzello, and stritch – often at the same time, as pictured on the cover – a mode that's ... LP, Vinyl record album

Freddie Hubbard

Keep Your Soul Together
CTI, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
Freddie Hubbard at the peak of his 70s powers – and one of his finest albums of the decade!
