A great early album from San Francisco guitarist Eddie Duran – a player who's not that well known outside of his native city, but who's been a key contribution to the SF scene for many many years! On this Fantasy debut, Eddie's got a clean, lean, single-line style that's really great – a way of playing the guitar that nods a bit back towards Charlie Christian, but which also has some of the more sophisticated shadings of the best 50s innovators on the instrument. And although Eddie has appeared on other more Latin-based sets over the years, this album's a mostly straight jazz affair – bits of swing and bop that shift from track to track – played by Eddie with a small group that includes Howie Dudune on tenor and clarinet – on tracks that include "Soon", "Rise N Shine", "Taking Life Easy", "Sugar", "Room With A View", "Why Not", "It Could Happen To You", and "My Inspiration".
