Maybe our favorite record ever from Thievery Corporation – and one that really stays true to the sound of all the styles that have inspired them! For over a decade, the duo have been playing with elements borrowed from bossa nova, old soundtracks, French pop, and lounge – but this is the first time they really take the trouble to respectfully re-present the music of their roots – with all the right modes of instrumentation and production to stand head to toe with previous legends! The feel of the record is a lot more like a Schema session than most other ESL recordings – and even more like a 60s record, too – thanks to warm acoustic instrumentation on guitar, percussion, and strings – mixed with bossa percussion, gentle keyboards, and some really great vocals from a range of different female singers.
