Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Jukka Tolonen

Summer Games
Love (Finland), 1973. Used
A beautiful blend of progressive jazz and folk styles – one of the mellower albums from 70s Finnish guitarist Jukka Tolonen, but a great little set nonetheless! The album's got a warmly organic quality that puts it firmly in the context of some of the Brazilian/fusion experiments from the US ... CD
Blue Note, 1967. Used
An extremely well-titled set from the legendary Hank Mobley – one of his key Blue Notes of the 60s, and an album that glides along with an undeniable sense of joy, life, and soul! Mobley's really opening up his groove at this point – moving way beyond standard hard bop and soul jazz ... CD

A killer set of hardbop from the legendary Hank Mobley – recorded during the initial Mobley run at Blue Note, and a keen document of his amazing power on the tenor sax! The album's got a tightness that's almost impossible to believe – a summation of all the best bop trends of the 50s, ... CD

Phil Wilson & Makoto Ozone

Live At The Berklee Performance Center
Capri, 1982. Used
Beautiful duets between trombonist Phil Wilson and pianist Makoto Ozone – surprisingly swinging at times, despite the lack of a rhythm section! Wilson's always got a great ear for unusual sounds on his horn – and in the open space of this set, he really comes up with some compelling ... CD

John Scofield

Rough House
Enja, 1978. Used
John Scofield's the leader here – but at times, we almost think the record's the vision of pianist Hal Galper as much as it is the guitarist – as both their efforts leap from the grooves with a really wonderful sense of energy! Maybe part of the album's strength is the rhythm duo ... CD
Fresh Sound (Spain), 1952. Used
An unlikely pairing – but a great one! The set documents an unusual live date by Charlie Parker – recorded at the Trade Winds in Inglewood in June of 1952 – and featuring a group that includes Sonny Criss on alto, Al Haig on piano, Harry Babasin on bass, Lawrence Marable on drums ... CD

Funky jazz breaks from Skalpel – a really excellent set throughout, and one that's a lot warmer than the group's earlier work!
