Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A great Italian comedy score from the early 60s – put together in key transitional modes by composer Carlo Rustichelli! The music is a great mix of those older, more sentimental Italian styles with some of the cleaner, leaner, playful sounds that were beginning to emerge in the 60s – ... LP, Vinyl record album
Elmer Bernstein's score for the sexy late 50s film based on Erskine Caldwell's book – done with a mix of southern styles, jazzy bits, and fuller orchestrations! Bernstein's music of the 50s is all just about as perfect as you can get for soundtrack scoring – and like some of his other ... LP, Vinyl record album
There's some pretty nice moments on Jerry Goldsmith's great score for the film A Patch of Blue (so many, in fact, that the score was later re-cast by Sun Ra and Walt Dickerson). The overall approach is orchestral – but there's a lot of moments when the instrumentation gets odd, and when the ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the best-ever Lalo Schifrin LPs! It's got a very cool organ-driven keyboard sound, tight jazzy arrangements, and a great set of themes like "Once a Thief", "The Cat", "The Man From Thrush", and "Blues a Go Go". Very swingin', very cool, and recorded ... LP, Vinyl record album
Hard-to-find work by Michel Legrand – screen themes for films that include Maison De Poupee, Le Feux De La Chandeleur, Le Gang Des Otages, L'Impossible Objet, La Vielle Fille, Les Maries De L'An 2, and Un Homme Est Mort! LP, Vinyl record album
One of the greatest soundtracks ever – an archetypal album from French composer Francis Lai, and a record that set the tone for countless other imitations to come – yet which is still the best! The groove here is really unique – a spare blend of bossa influences, jazzy organ ... LP, Vinyl record album
Very successful tribute album to the great Italian soundtrack composer Nino Rota. The record mostly features tracks from various Fellini films, including Muhal Richard Abrams version of "La Dolce Vita Suite", Carla Bley's "8 1/2", Jaki Byard's "Amarcord", David Amram's ... LP, Vinyl record album
A surprisingly great set of tracks from one of our favorite arrangers of all time! Pete Rugolo is best known to the world for his work with Stan Kenton, June Christy, and the Four Freshmen – but this album of TV themes is pretty darn fab, and it includes a lot of strange bits that push it ...
