Juan De La CruzHimig Natin ... CD
Vicor (Philippines), 1973. New Copy ... $3.99 14.99
Juan De La Cruz is a band, not a guy – and they're one of the hardest rocking combos of the far east in the early 70s! The trio's propelled strongly by some razor-sharp guitar from Wally Gonzales – a player who stands mightily with some of the biggest British names of a few years before – but who's all the more compelling because of his lack of commercial fame in this scene. Vocals are often in that same blues-into-rock mode initiated by the Rolling Stones – but are often taken to weirder, wilder territory overall. Titles include "Round & Round", "I Wanna Say Yeah", "Take You Home", "Shake Your Brains", and "Big Boss Man". CD

✨✧ Alexander's Timeless BloozbandFor Sale ... LP
Uni, 1968. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
A very cool record – not the blues rock album you might expect from the group's name, although there's definitely some bluesy influences – but instead one of those really weird mixes of modes that you'll find in the best Uni groups of the period! There's some great organ and some very cool jazzy bits in the mix too – and titles include "Plastic Is Organic", "Love So Strong", "Darlin", "Tight Rope Walker", and "Swannanoa Tunnel". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has very light wear and a cutout hole – vinyl is nice.)

Led ZeppelinHouses Of The Holy (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Atlantic, 1973. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... $22.99 26.98
Led Zeppelin at peak power – mixing hard rock bombast with deep, genuine love for blues and folk guitars! Houses Of The Holy is the essential the blueprint for countless imitators to come – but it's also got smarts, subtleties and creative ambitious that's just plain lost on the watered wannabes that floated up in Zeppelin's wake. Titles include "The Crunge", "Over The Hills & Far Away", "The Song Remains The Same", "The Rain Song", "Dancing Days", "Dyer Maker", "No Quarter", and "The Ocean". LP, Vinyl record album
(Beautiful pressing – heavy vinyl, heavy cover, and with paper title band too!)

✨✧ Speed, Glue & ShinkiSpeed, Glue & Shinki ... LP
Warner/Lawson (Japan), 1972. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... Just Sold Out!
A hell of a record from a Japanese band who answered to nobody else – a combo who could come on with the ferocity of James Gang or some of their contemporaries, but also hit some even wilder, more experimental moments too – something they definitely do here in the space of the double-length of the album – which mixes full-on jammers full of fuzz and bluesy riffs with some of the weirder moments you might find on the farther reaches of The Beatles' White Album! Vocals are all in English, and given that the album was issued on Atlantic, we're not sure why they never tried to push these guys bigger in the states – as they're better than most of the rest of the period. Titles include "Sniffin & Snortin", "Run And Hide", "Bad Woman", "Red Doll", "Flat Fret Swing", "Calm Down", "Search For Love", "Wanna Take You You", and "Song For An Angel". LP, Vinyl record album
(Great 2LP reissue – with the paper wraparound image of the original!)

✨✧ Illinois JacquetLive At Schaffhausen Switzerland – March 18, 1978 ... CD
Storyville (Denmark), 1978. Used ... Out Of Stock
Illinois Jacquet was one of those players who never stopped going as the decades moved on – a tenorist who started in the bigger jumping bands of the swing generation, but one who was able to grow and shift over the years, and continue to hone his craft! This late date from Switzerland shows Jacquet in fine fine form – blowing strongly in a quartet with Hank Jones on piano, George Duvivier on bass, and JC Heard on drums – all players who have an effortless swing that works well with Illinois' solo skills. Tracks are short, and mighty tight – and titles include "I Wanna Blow Now", "Jack The Bear", "The King", "Cute", "The Very Thought Of You", "In A Sentimental Mood", "George's Blues", and "I Can't Get Started". CD
