Wolfgang Dauner QuintetSun Is Rising/Day In The Life ... 7-inch
MPS/Wallen Bink (Germany), 1969. New Copy (pic cover)... $24.99
Two incredible tracks from keyboardist Wolfang Dauner – both a mad mix of funky jazz and psychedelic elements! "Sun Is Rising" has this very groovy, almost joyous sort of vibe – odd vocals mixed with a hip sitar line and some very cool percussion next to the drums! "Day In The Life" is taken with the Beatles' lyrics intact, but sung in this really unusual flat-toned mode – and mixed with funky drums, and some great guitar from Sigi Schwab! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

George DukeMy Soul/Au Right ... 7-inch
MPS/Wallen Bink (Germany), 1971. New Copy (pic cover)... $24.99
Two sublime early tracks from pianist George Duke – both from his first MPS album, never issued in the US! "My Soul" has this great rolling groove, with congas from Armando Peraza giving things a nice Latin vibe – as George plays both piano and Fender Rhodes together, for a very warm sound! "Au Right" has lots more great Rhodes – a killer solo that bumps along beautifully over funky drums! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

Orchester Roland KovacBlue Dance/Milky Way ... 7-inch
Saba/Wallen Bink (Germany), Late 60s. New Copy (pic cover)... $22.99
Two wonderfully groovy tracks from vibist Roland Kovac – both lifted from his album Trip To The Mars! "Blue Dance" is great – a modal number that has plenty of vibes in the mix – moving up and down the wonderful bassline and piano part that really make the tune move! "Milky Way" is great too, but in a very different way – spacey and moody, with some sublime solo alto sax from Derek Humble! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

Mark MurphySconsolato/Just Give Me Time ... 7-inch
Saba/Wallen Bink (Germany), 1967. New Copy (pic cover)... $22.99
The great Mark Murphy works here with key members of the Clarke Boland Big Band – in a sweet small combo mode that makes for one of the hippest albums the singer ever recorded! "Sconsolato" is this wonderful tune written by bassist Jimmy Woode – and Mark takes the tune at a nicely easy clip, with well-inflected vocals that open the song up beautifully! "Just Give Me Time" is a fantastic jazz dance number – great on the vocal tip, but made even better by work from Sahib Shihab on baritone, Ronnie Scott on tenor, and Jimmy Deuchar on trumpet! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

Baden PowellSarava/Canto De Ossanha ... 7-inch
Saba/Wallen Bink (Germany), 1966. New Copy (pic cover)... $22.99
Killer 60s work from the great Baden Powell – two tunes done for the Saba/MPS label, both with a very jazzy vibe! "Sarava" moves fast and fierce – lots of percussion driving the tune at the bottom, including work from the great Milton Banana on drums – while Baden delivers this crisp guitar solo over the top! "Canto De Ossanha" is one of our all-time favorite tunes – originally done by Powell with Vinicius De Moraes, but even better here in a fast-driving small combo mode! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

✨✧ Fats SadiEnsadinado/Night Lady ... 7-inch
Saba/Wallen Bink (Germany), 1966. New Copy (pic cover)... Just Sold Out!
"Ensadinado" isn't an easy title to say – but the tune is a wonderfully catchy groove from European vibist Fats Sadi – pulled from his rare Saba album of the same name! The cut's got kind of a modal soul sort of approach – with help from the core of the Clark Boland ensemble on rhythm – Francy Boland on piano, Jimmy Woode on bass, and Kenny Clarke on drums! The flipside is a great take on the Boland number "Night Lady" – even better on this version with vibes in the lead! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

✨✧ Monty AlexanderLove & Happiness/Yellow Bird ... 7-inch
MPS/Wallen Bink (Germany), 1974. New Copy (pic cover)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the greatest tunes ever from pianist Monty Alexander – a Fender Rhodes monster that has a very famous sample use over the years – but which is more than great enough on its own! The flipside has Monty nodding towards his Caribbean roots with a sweet Rhodes take on "Yellow Bird" – done with great guitar from Ernest Ranglin! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

Two fantastic American players – both coming together here on a rare European session for the Saba/MPS label in Germany! "Carmell's Black Forest Waltz" features not just great saxophone from leader Nathan Davis, but also a strong trumpet solo from Carmell Jones – blowing over this excellent modal groove from Francy Boland on piano, Jimmy Woode on bass, and Kenny Clarke on drums! "B's Blues" is a bold soul jazz number – stunning work from both horn players, with Davis on a soprano sax for his solo! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

✨✧ Nathan Davis QuintetTheme From Zoltan/Mister E ... 7-inch
Saba/Wallen Bink (Germany), 1965. New Copy (pic cover)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Nathan Davis is one of our all-time favorite saxophone players – and he sounds tremendous here in the company of trumpeter Woody Shaw, as the pair both take on Shaw's early "Zoltan" composition, with help from Larry Young on piano! The flipside features an even bolder number – the Davis composition "Mister E", with some very fierce work from Young on the piano – a really surprising change from his usual organ work of the time! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

✨✧ Dave Pike SetMathar/Regards Form Freddie Horowitz ... 7-inch
MPS/Wallen Bink (Germany), 1969. New Copy (pic cover)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A special pressing of two of the best tracks from Dave Pike's massive Noisy Silence Gentle Noise LP! "Mathar" is a very famous groove – one that begins with stretched out sitar soloing, then rolls into a firey funky groove compressed with jumping pumping bass and drums underneath the sitar. "Regards" is equally great – a freer jazzier number that starts with guitar, and leaps into one of the sweetest vibes solos you'll hear in a long time! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Really wonderful pressing – done from the original master tapes! Limited edition too.)

✨✧ Duke PearsonI Don't Care Who Knows It (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Blue Note/Wallen Bink (UK), 1968/1969/1970. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
One of the greatest albums ever from pianist Duke Pearson – recorded at a time when the musician was taking a bigger role at the Blue Note label, and started exploring some great musical territory in the process! The tracks here were all recorded in the late 60s – but not issued by the label until decades later, when they were pulled together in this fantastic double-length set – a record that comes as a real revelation. The work's quite different than Pearson's big band recordings, or his earlier soul jazz ones – and is a brilliant mix of Brazilian styles, electric instrumentation, complicated arrangements, and some of the more head-oriented jazz that was cropping up on Blue Note at the time – particularly some of the United States Of The Mind albums by Horace Silver! Silver's musical partner Andy Bey sings on the album's title cut – and other musicians include Frank Foster on tenor, Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, Wally Richardson on guitar, Jerry Dodgion on flute, Ralph Towner on acoustic guitar, and a young Airto on percussion. Titles include the fantastic "I Don't Care Who Knows It", a great version of "Canto De Ossanha", and the tracks "Bloos", "I Don't Know", "Captain Bacardi", "Rosemary's Baby", "Dialogo", "Upa Neguinho", and "Xibaba". LP, Vinyl record album
(Limited to 1000 double vinyl copies.)
