✨✧ Stan Getz & Bill EvansStan Getz & Bill Evans – Previously Unreleased Recordings (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Verve, 1964. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Excellent 60s work by tenorist Stan Getz – a completely sublime meeting with pianist Bill Evans – tunes recorded in 1964, but not issued at the time, even though they are fantastic – because Verve Records instead wanted to really focus on Stan's bossa nova recordings! The pairing of Getz and Bill Evans is a wonderful one here – as both players are at their warmest, and working with a wonderful sense of tone throughout – Stan, slightly lyrical at times – and Bill, with some slight brooding undercurrents that really add some depth to the set. The rest of the group features either Ron Carter or Richard Davis on bass, plus Elvin Jones on drums – and titles include "Funkallero", "Melinda", "Grandfather's Waltz", "My Heart Stood Still", and "Night & Day". LP, Vinyl record album
(Part of the Verve Acoustic Sounds series – heavy cover and vinyl!)

Bill Evans & Stan GetzBut Beautiful ... CD
Milestone, 1974. Used ... $4.99
A great pairing – one who barely recorded together, but always made magic when they did! The vibe here is different than the Evans/Getz date on Verve in the mid 60s – partly because of the live setting, but maybe also because the group is Bill's – with Eddie Gomez on bass and Marty Morrell on drums! ✨✧ Bill EvansComplete Bill Evans On Verve (18CD set) ... CD
Verve (Italy), 1960s. Used 18 CDs ... Out Of Stock
A real treasure trove of music from the legendary Bill Evans – the complete recordings the pianist made for Verve Records in the 60s, including trio sessions, solo material, and interesting larger projects as well – plus alternate takes, unissued material, and lots more gems! Evans hit Verve at the height of his powers – already coming off important early records for the Riverside label, and working with Verve with superb recording quality, and great care for Evans as an artist – which allowed Bill to further flower in his familiar trio setting, and also try out solo recordings, and work with other co-leaders who include arranger Gary McFarland, tenorist Stan Getz, guitarist Jim Hall, and singer Monica Zetterlund – all of whom work closely with Evans on a session. The box features remastering for all sides, and includes over 250 tracks in a really overstuffed package! CD
