A tremendous album from Two Banks Of Four – a group that features work from some of our favorite older members of the British scene – including singer Valerie Etienne, and musicians Chris Bowden and Ski Oakenfull! The album's got a really soaring, spacious feel – with jazzy roots that stretch back to groups like Kalima, and include Fertile Ground, but an overall sound that's very much in step with the current sound of the 21st Century London scene. The tunes are all incredibly soulful – driven by warm acoustic basslines and snapping snare percussion – and the album's got an overall feel that has a lot more real jazz playing than just beats and keys – something we approve of highly! A very cool Japanese-only collection of cuts from Incognito – the long-running and legendary UK soul band who've given us fantastic music for many many years! This set brings together some rare mixes, some of which appear on CD for the first time ever – and also includes some great Incognito side projects too – all of which makes for a set that's way different than a simple "best of" or anything of that nature! No beach music grooves here – just sublimely soulful work from Incognito – played with the sort of perfection we've come to expect in their albums! The title's a tribute to the sunny grooves heard by Bluey in his youth in Mauritius, and the album was recorded with a similarly warm feel too – given that some of the sessions were done in Italy and Indonesia! Instrumentation is as tight as ever – soulful, jazzy, and never too slick or smooth – and with singers that include Maysa, Joy Rose, Tony Momrelle, and Imaani, the record's got a vocal range that's as great as its instrumental one. Ski Oakenfull and Matt Cooper play a fair bit of keyboards, which warms the tunes up nicely – and titles include "Freedom To Love", "Happy People", "Step Aside", "I've Been Waiting", "When The Sun Comes Down", "Tales From The Beach", "Silence Of My Mind", and "It May Rain Sometime".
