✨✧ Art Ensemble Of ChicagoSirius Calling ... CD
PI Recordings, 2004. Used ... Out Of Stock
The last recording session by the Art Ensemble Of Chicago with Malachi Favors – done shortly before his death in early 2004, and a record that's certainly touched by his gentle soul! There's a poise here that's really great – a kind of careful and thoughtful presentation of the material that's often extremely tuneful, and which features some especially nice reed work from Roscoe Mitchell and Joseph Jarman. Titles include "Sirius Calling", "Two Twenty", "He Took A Cab To Neptune", "Till Autumn", "Dance Of Circles", "You Can't Get Away", and "Taiko". CD

✨✧ Coleman HawkinsSirius ... LP
Pablo, 1966. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Great late work from Hawk – recorded near the end of his life, with a soulful quartet that included Barry Harris on piano and Bob Cranshaw on bass. The tracks are all fairly standard – like "Sugar", "The Man I Love", "Time On My Hands", and "The One I Love" – but Hawkins' tone is incredible, with a raspy edge, and some surprisingly modern moments that show that he was always continuing to grow as an artist. The material is issued here for the first time by Pablo Records – in a set put together in 1975. LP, Vinyl record album
(70s pressing.)

A great double-length set from Stockhausen, and a wonderful mix of acoustic and electric elements – featuring a whole host of cool electronic sources, augmented by trumpet, soprano, bass, and bass clarinet. This album's one of his classics for DG – and the record's a masterpiece that provides a perfect introduction to his groundshaking music! LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes original book inside the gatefold – a great copy!)

✨✧ Tony Husband, edVictory – Propoganda Cartoons From World War II ... Book
Sirius, 2022. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A well-done collection of images from the second world war – editorial cartoons that address the conflict in a variety of different ways – from the looming threat of war in the late 30s, through the actual years of combat that took up most of the first part of the 40s – into some materials that deal with the aftermath of the war as well! The book is in black and white throughout, and presents each cartoon with brief notes and sometimes a bit of translation – as the cartoons are from a variety of sources, US and UK, but other European territories as well – served up with a great array of very striking images that match the wit and politics of their themes. Softcover edition is black and white, 192 pages, with far more images than that number. Book

William HookerShamballa – Duets With Thurston Moore & Elliot Sharp ... LP
Knitting Factory/ORG, 1993. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... $22.99 34.99
Legendary jazz drummer William Hooker is in some pretty heady territory here – improvising alongside two different guitarists, both of whom really push the sound in ways that are different than some of Hooker's other records! Thurston Moore provides plenty of freaky sonic fuzz in the first half – and Elliott Sharp is pictured playing a twin-necked guitar in the second – both players who are no strangers to longform improvisation, and whose energy is easily met, if not beaten, but Hooker's incredible command of the drum Kit! The track with Moore is titled "Sirius" – and the one with Sharp is "The Hat & Its Train". LP, Vinyl record album
(First time on vinyl!)

✨✧ Earl Sweatshirt & The AlchemistVoir Doire (silver vinyl pressing) ... LP
Warner, 2024. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Earl Sweatshirt has always been at the forefront of hip hop – and here, he really continues that legacy, by also reaching backwards for the production skills of The Alchemist – whose special touch on the record really creates a whole new milieu for Earl's lyrics! There's a dreamlike quality to the record, but one that's also stripped-down enough to feel personal – a refinement of Alchemist's style, often with a great focus on just one or two instrumental elements – almost like spare spicing to really keep the vocals in the lead. Titles include "Dead Zone", "Free The Ruler", "27 Braids", "Mac Deuce", "My Brother The Wind", "100 High Street", "Sentry", "Sirius Black", "The Caliphate", and "Mancala" – the last two of which feature Vince Staples! LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Silverhead16 & Savaged ... LP
MCA, 1973. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
A classic set from Silverhead – a group who never fully got their due! Frontman Michael Des Barres is a SiriusXM dj these days, but he really gives these guys the right sort of badass energy to go with their searing guitar-heavy sound – a mix of two electrics, plus bass, at a level that has the same focused fuzz of Thin Lizzy, but maybe a bit more sexy strut overall. Titles include "Hello New York", "More Than Your Mouth Can Hold", "Rock Out Claudette Rock Out", "16 & Savaged", "This Ain't A Parody", and "Heavy Hammer". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has some edge wear, corner bumps.)
