One of the best albums ever from this hip Australian soul singer – a vocalist who was as important to her scene in the 70s as Chaka Khan was in the US! That comparison may seem like a strong one, but ReneeGeyer's got a hell of a voice – and she really sounds wonderful here working in a live setting with her very tight group! Titles include her classic funky version of "Really Really Love You" – plus the great "Hard Head" and "Shakey Ground". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original RCA/Mushroom pressing – nice and clean.)
Killer early work from ReneeGeyer – her first album as a solo act, and the kind of set that really made her one of the best artists on the Australian scene at the time! There's a blend of mellow funk and soul here that's totally wonderful – very much in the territory of the hippest American acts of the time, and served up by the Mother Earth group – who were kind of the Rufus to Renee's Chaka Khan! Titles include "Just Like A Woman", "Moon Dance", "Space Captain", "Mascara Blues", "Them Changes", "If Only You Believe", "Lean On Me", and "There's No Such Thing As Love". LP, Vinyl record album

A souful set from the early 70s Australian scene – a group that features the vocals of later soul star ReneeGeyer, in a mode that's similar to her own early records too! The combo's nice and tight – and there's some great work on saxes and flute from Keith Shadwick, plus guitar from Chris Sonneberg, and piano from George Almanza. LP, Vinyl record album

One of the key 70s gems cut by Australian soul singer ReneeGeyer – a vocalist with a tremendous groove, and one who delivers material here that's way different than you might expect! Backing is nice and jazzy, and there's definitely a Chaka Khan/Rufus sort of vibe going on here – on tracks that include "Be There In The Morning", "Tender Hooks", "Touch", "Moving Along", "Quicker Than The Eye", and her classic "Heading In The Right Direction". LP, Vinyl record album

Although Ellen McIlwaine's always best-remembered for her folksy work on Polydor, she's also pretty darn nice on this kind of record – a sophisticated soulful outing that shows that she sould still really thrive as an artist in a more commercial environment. The best cuts are the mellower ones, which have sort of a ReneeGeyer-esque quality to them – and which work very nicely as soul songs, in contrast to the uptempo folksy tunes which stood out on earlier records. Titles include "Money Can't Save You", "You May Be All I Need", "The Last Good Man In My Life", "We Got Each Other", and "Don't You Have Any Love In Your Heart". LP, Vinyl record album
