Peter Jacques BandFire Night Dance (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Prelude/Big Break (UK), 1979. Used ... $19.99
A spacey little set of clubby grooves from European disco honchos Jacques Fred Petrus and producer Mauro Malavasi – with lead vocals from the legendary Leroy Burgess! The tracks here are all quite long and building – very much in the classic Prelude Records mode, and with a fair dose of European influence, but mostly just on the keyboards – which actually make for one of the best elements here! Tracks were composed and arranged by Malavasi – and titles include "Devil's Run", "Walking On Music", "Fire Night Dance", and "Fly With The Wind". This Big Break UK CD edition has a bunch of bonus disco and single versions – including "Walking On Music (Disco Version)", "Walking On Music (Single Version)", "Fire Night Dance (Disco Version)", "Fire Night Dance (Single Version)", "Fly In The Wind (Single Version)" and "Fly In The Wind (Disco Version)". SilkSmooth As Silk ... LP
Prelude, 1977. Very Good+ ... $24.99
A surprisingly soulful album for the Prelude label, and a great batch of smooth mellow tracks produced by David Porter in Memphis and Malaco. The record's got some tight harmony vocals, and a rhythmic approach that's more mellow soul than it is uptempo disco – although that doesn't stop the record from having a few dancefloor stormers. Titles include "On Fire", "Party (parts 1 & 2)", "I Know I Didn't Do You Wrong", "Leaving Me", and "Live While You Can". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Nick Straker BandLittle Bit Of Jazz/Space Age ... 12-inch
Prelude, 1981. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
A classic early 80s groover by Nick Straker – not really as jazzy as you'd expect, but with some nice piano work that hints at use of the instrument in later house singles. "Space Age" is more of an electro track – with vocoded vocals and lots of keyboards. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Prelude sleeve, with light wear.)

✨✧ Unlimited TouchYes, We're Ready ... LP
Prelude, 1983. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
Pretty great stuff from Unlimited Touch – grooving here in a sound that's got a bit more of an 80s feel than their previous album, but which still works well for their dual-female vocal lead style. There's a bit of an electro "wheeet" in some of the tracks, but the vocals and the songwriting are still in a tightly soulful mode. Titles include "Love Explosion", "Your Love Is Serious", "No One Can Love Me", and a remake of "Yes, I'm Ready". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ D TrainYou're The One For Me ... LP
Prelude, 1982. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
One of the most enduring albums on the Prelude label, and a great bit of modern soul by James "D-Train" Williams. Hubert Eaves produced the album, and he added lots of tasty electro keyboards to the set, played with his usual jazzy touches and a nice flourish that gives Williams' voice a strong kick on the best cuts. Sparklingly sophisticated – and proof that the indie labels could still churn out quality soul as well as they could disco! Includes the cuts "You're The One For Me", "D Train Theme", "Walk On By", "Lucky Day", and "Love Vibration". LP, Vinyl record album

ECM, 2017. Used ... $12.99
Saxophonist Tim Berne has found a great recent home in his Snakeoil group – combo that allows him to try out many different tones and colors, really pushing his music forward with a freshness that it maybe hadn't had in previous years! Berne's sharp-edged at the head of the group on alto – alongside Oscar Noriega on clarinet and bass clarinet, Ryan Ferreira on guitar, Matt Mitchell on piano and electronics, and Ches Smith on drums, vibes, percussion, and timpani – an instrumental mix that's often used in these very unusual, very compelling ways – sometimes blocking out spaces in sound with unusual combinations of elements, often with more surprising brightness than the darker or more obtuse moments you might expect. Titles include "Hora Feliz", "Stingray Shuffle", "Incidentals Contact", "Prelude One/Sequel Too", and "Sideshow". CD

A full LP that combines early work by Dave Brubeck – pulled together from a few 10" LPs, and packaged in a nice cartoony cover. The record features the work of his octet – a group that gives a rare opportunity to hear Brubeck in a large group setting, and one that also features work by Cal Tjader on drums (!), plus Dick Collins and Paul Desmond on their usual instruments. Kenny BurrellEllington Is Forever Vol 2 ... LP
Fantasy, 1975. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold ... $7.99
A second volume of Duke Ellington material from Kenny Burrell – and like the first, an extremely fresh look at the tunes – given the way things change up throughout the sessions! The presentation here is nicely varied – not just a big band take on the Duke, nor some small combo musings – but instead a mixture of both, all with Burrell's guitar at the center, but also moving the spotlight to a host of other players along the way – including trombonist Quentin Jackson, trumpeters Snooky Young and Thad Jones, organist Jimmy Smith, and tenorists Joe Henderson and Jerome Richardson – all of whom add some surprisingly soulful currents to the set. Titles include "Jeep Is Jumpin", "Solitude", "In A Sentimental Mood", "Azure", "Just Squeeze Me", "Come Sunday", "Prelude To A Kiss", "I Let A Song Go Out Of My Heart", and "Orson". ✨✧ Charlie ByrdBamba-Samba Bossa Nova ... CD
Everest/Empire, 1959. Used ... Just Sold Out!
A rare bit of early bossa jazz from the US – an obscure 1959 session by Charlie Byrd, and one that predates most of his more famous work on Riverside, Columbia, and Verve! The session's a bit different than most of Charlie's lighter bossa recordings – in that it features his acoustic guitar work over bigger band backings from Woody Herman – done in modes that borrow a sense of sound and space from bossa nova, but which also share plenty of modern jazz touches as well. Arrangers for the record are Sid Feller and Ralph Burns – the latter of whom does a tremendous job with his 4-part "Summer Sequence" – a tone-based Kenton-esque suite that's a real standout part of the record, even if it's not as bossa-styled as some of the other work. Other tunes are all originals by Charlie – and include "Bamba Samba", "Love Song Ballad", "Prelude A Cha Cha", and "Original #2". CD

John CageMusic For Keyboard 1935 to 1948 ... LP
Columbia, 1969. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... $19.99
Prepared piano, standard piano, and even toy piano – all played beautifully by Jeanne Kirstein in a double-length collection of classics by John Cage! The set's one of the best illustrations of the power of Cage's work in the early days – and many of these numbers have more force than silence, particularly the prepared piano compositions – which ring out with an other-worldly sound that still holds up beautifully all these many years later. Titles include "Two Pieces 1935", "Metamorphosis" (1938), "Bacchanale" (1938), "The Perilous Night" (1943-44), "Tossed As It Is Untroubled" (1943), "A Valentine Out Of Season" (1944), "Root Of An Unfocus" (1944), Two Pieces 1946", "Prelude For Meditation" (1944), "Music For Marcel Duchamp" (1947), "Suite For Toy Piano" (1948), and "Dream" (1948). Imperial, 1960. Very Good+ ... $1.99
Featuring a few vocal variations on the theme by Maurice Chevalier, mixed with instrumental numbers that often have a nice mix of playfulness and melancholy – not unlike some of Nino Rota's themes from the time – and a few more waltz-like numbers. Instrumentation includes dreamy organ in a few spots – and titles include "Courtly Humor/Olympia", "Austrian Dreams Waltz/Finale", "A Breath Of Scandal", and "Prelude/Marcia Alla Tedesca/Olympia/Can Can". Chick CoreaMy Spanish Heart ... LP
Polydor, 1976. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold ... $6.99
Given that Chick Corea first got his start working in the New York Latin scene back in the 60s, the album's a bit of a return to his roots – even if the general theme here is Spanish, and not Afro-Cuban! The Corea Spanish Heart here is cast in some darker, more contemplative tones than more traditional Latin sides – but it borrows a wonderful array of modes from genres past – including bits of strings, percussion, and an overall more ambitious approach that sometimes shows up in Chick's piano work, or in the general construction of the tunes. The double-length set features a wide variety of Spanish-influenced numbers – played by Corea on acoustic piano and a variety of keyboards, with other players who include Don Alias, Jean Luc Ponty, Stanley Clarke, and Steve Gadd. Titles inclu de "Love Castle", "The Gardens", "Night Streets", "The Hilltop", "Armando's Rhumba", "Prelude To El Bozo", "Spanish Fantasy", and "My Spanish Heart". LP, Vinyl record album

Miles DavisAgharta (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Columbia/4 Men With Beards, 1975. New Copy 2LP Gatefold (reissue)... $23.99 27.99
A seminal 70s side from Miles Davis – originally a Japanese recording, and one that returns to the solid push of the initial electric years! The record's a completely cooking little session – one that mixes the raw, noisier styles of other Davis albums with a focus, funked-up energy that's really set loose in the freer standards of the Japanese scene – all to come up with a sound that's completely otherworldly, and which is light years ahead of most mainstream fusion from the period. Pete Cosey plays some really wicked guitar and synthesizer, Al Foster kicks tremendous energy on his drums, Sonny Fortune brings a soulful depth on soprano sax and flute, and Michael Henderson creates massive flow on the bass. Titles include "Prelude", "Interlude", and a long version of "Theme From Jack Johnson". LP, Vinyl record album

King/CTI (Japan), 1973. Used ... Just Sold Out!
Funky keyboards galore – and one of the greatest records ever from this legendary Brazilian jazz talent! The album follows nicely off Deodato's Prelude classic for CTI – and like that one, this set's built on long-flowing tunes that rise and fall with a wonderful sense of rhythm – a sublime electric piano groove that's quite different than anything Deodato recorded before – and possibly never realized this perfectly again after his CTI years. Other players include Stanley Clarke on bass, Billy Cobham on drums, and Hubert Laws on flute – and titles include the massive Latin funk track "Super Strut", plus the tunes "Pavane For A Dead Princess", "Skyscrapers", and a great version of "Nights In White Satin". Kenny Dorham/Jackie McLeanMatador/Inta Somethin' ... CD
Blue Note, 1962. Used ... $5.99
This is the kind of CD that makes us love reissues! Why? Well, because it features 2 incredibly rare jazz albums – both of which never turn up on vinyl, and are lovingly packaged here on 1 CD filled with a dozen hard bop grooves. The album Matador was originally issued under Kenny Dorham's name, and Inta Somethin' was issued under Jackie McLean's name – but both players are sort of co-leaders on both albums, and it's fitting to pair the records together here because they represent the unique union of these two different players. Dorham's lyrical trumpet is an unlikely match for McLean's edgey alto, but the records work well, and with a modernist groove that's extremely compelling. Titles include "El Matador", "San Francisco Beat", "Prelude", and versions of "Una Mas" and "Melanie" – both of which were recorded later by the artists on Blue Note. CD
(Out of print, pages of booklet are stuck together from some water damage & is priced accordingly.)

Ray DrummondExcursion ... CD
Arabesque Jazz, 1993. Used ... $7.99
A great flowering as a leader for bassist Ray Drummond – a session that features some of his own beautiful compositions, played by a very tight, soulful group of musicians! Ray's on acoustic bass, very strongly in the lead – and other players include Joe Lovano and Craig Handy on saxes and flute – each featured in a different channel – plus Danilo Perez on piano, and both Marvin Smitty Smith and Mor Thiam on drums and percussion, again split between different channels of the recording! This split/speaker approach makes for a very spacious sound – one that really grabs us with an evocative, organic sound, especially on the Drummond originals. Titles include "Susanita", "Penta-Major", "Quads", "Prelude", "Blues African", and "Excursion" – a suite in 5 parts. CD

Roulette, 1960. Used ... $3.99
A really great album by Billy Eckstine – much more swinging and upbeat than some of his other 50s sessions, and with a strongly pronounced jazz flair overall! The album's supposedly recorded live in Vegas in the wee hours of the morning, and features Billy blowing a bit of trumpet as well as singing – all set to some nicely thumping orchestrations by Bobby Tucker, who really knows how to hit the right groove for this sort of a set. Titles include "Lady Luck", "Have A Song On Me", "Deed I Do", "Without A Song", "Moonlight In Vermont", and "Lush Life". CD features a huge amount of previously unissued bonus tracks – titles that include "Prelude To A Kiss", "Fools Rush In", "I Apologize", "Little Mama", "Prisoner Of Love", "Alright Okay You Win", and "In The Still Of The Night". One of the few American albums ever issued by Georgie Fame – a great set of tracks from his early CBS years, put together with a package that was bound to appeal to US fans digging the Bonnie & Clyde movie! The work here is a hip mix of jazz, soul, and R&B styles – all served up with that Georgie Fame charm that made his music unlike anyone else's at the time. And although we're not sure, it appears that there's a few tracks here that might not have been issued on LP back in the UK – as the set list features 11 tracks that include "Mellow Yellow", "Bullets La Verne", "This Is Always", "Side By Side", "Blue Prelude", "Someone To Watch Over Me", "Ask Me Nice", "When I'm Sixty Four", and "The Ballad Of Bonnie & Clyde". Georgie FameTwo Faces Of Fame/Third Face Of Fame ... CD
CBS/BGO (UK), 1967/1968. New Copy ... $8.99 14.98
2 classic albums from British vocalist Georgie Fame – back to back on one CD! First up are Two Faces Of Fame – live and studio – as each side of the album was recorded in each mode! Side one features the Brit jazz vocalist swinging in a live set recorded in early 1967 – done with lots of Hammond organ in the lineup, and an overall style that picks up a lot from Ray Charles and Mose Allison, but filters it through the groovier beat group styles of 60s London. Side two is even better, and features Georgie singing in more of a jazz-based mode – with lineups that feature some striking players that include Tony Oxley, Peter King, Gordon Beck, and Tubby Hayes. Tracks include a wonderful take on Mongo Santamaria's "El Pussycat", plus the tunes "Do It The Hard Way", "It Could Happen To You", "C'Est La Vie", "River's Invitation", "Greenback Dollar Bill", and "Keep Your Big Mouth Shut". Third Face Of Fame is an even better album – one that has Fame moving past the swinging Mose Allison-inspired jazz vocal mode of earlier records, into a groovier style that picks up a range of different sounds! Georgie kicks off the album with his version of the ever-popular late 60s "Ballad Of Bonnie & Clyde" – and seems to use that tune as an excuse to explore a nice range of older jazz vocal approaches, including one tune that even has him reciting the lyrics in a Beatles-sounding monologue! Arrangements are by Harry South, with players that include Gordon Beck, John McLaughlin, Ronnie Scott, Tony Coe, and Ian Hammer – and titles include "Ballad Of Bonnie & Clyde", "Ask Me Nice", "When I'm Sixty Four", "Someone To Watch Over Me", "Blue Prelude", "Bullets Laverne", "This Is Always", "Mellow Yellow", and "Side By Side". Piotr FigielPiotr (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Pronit/GAD (Poland), 1971. New Copy ... $16.99
Killer Hammond from Polish player Piotr Figiel – a player with a really wonderful sort of groove! The album's got a vibe that's halfway between the Hammond antics of Alan Hawkshaw and the freer lines of American jazzmen like Jimmy Smith or Charles Earland – augmented by other cool production touches at points, which gives the record a very groovy late 60s sort of Euro feel! The vocal group Bemibek sing these cool wordless vocals on the tune "Bit Of Spring Bit Of Summer" – and guitarist Dariusz Kozakiewicz adds a nice degree of fuzz to a few other tunes too – tripping out nicely with Piotr's very fluid lines on the Hammond! There's a bit of strings on a few numbers, bringing in a nice cinematic feel – and titles include "Prelude In E Minor", based on the same Chopin changes as Serge Gainsbourg's "Jane B" – plus "Never On Tuesday", "Breakfast At Midnight", "Away I'll Go", "Absence", and "Piece Of Space". CD features bonus tracks – long versions of "Skrawek Przestrzeni" and "Nieobecnosc". CD

The set is beautifully baroque – and a record that has the Shearing style applied to a set of older melodies pulled from classical music, and orchestrated by Milt Raskin with some lighter, jazzier styles that are really wonderful. Familiar themes are beautifully transformed – in a mode that's complicated, yet lightly swinging in a cool 60s style – all topped off by percussion, vibes, and piano from the Shearing group – in a mode that reminds us of some of the best classical/jazz experiments that would come in later years from the French and Brazilian scenes! One of the hippest records ever cut by Clark Terry – a spare set of duets with bassist Red Mitchell – all in a mode that's really quite unique! We can't think of too many other trumpet/bass duet albums – especially in a straight jazz mode – and Red further adds to the sound nicely by bringing in a bit of piano and some occasional vocalizations too! But the real highlight here is his work on bass – in that round, warm tone that he developed strongly while working on the European scene – almost a subtle wall of sound in its own right – and a unique foil for Terry's more sprightly lines on trumpet (plus a bit of flugelhorn.) ✨✧ Chick Corea/Return To Forever5 Original Albums (Light As A Feather/Hymn To The/Where Have I Known/No Mystery/Spanish Heart) (5CD set) ... CD
Verve (Germany), Mid 70s. Used 5CD ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A quintet of classic albums from keyboardist Chick Corea – all served up in a single package! First up is Light As A Feather – a classic bit of jazzy fusion from Chick Corea and the legendary Return To Forever group that included Flora Purim and Airto! The sound of the album influenced a generation, and although the album was overlooked by groovers for years, partly due to its success, it still sounds surprisingly fresh – skipping along with an amazing mix of fusion, Brazilian rhythms, and free-thinking solos! The album's overflowing with great-grooving goodies – and titles include the great original version of "Captain Marvel", plus "Light As A Feather", "Spain", and "500 Miles High". Next is another album with Return To Forever – Hymn To The Seventh Galaxy – a set that finds Chick Corea, Lenny White, Stanley Clarke and Bill Connors going all out from the get go, though our favorite track, "Space Circus" provides a nice breather, with an excellent electric piano intro, and a syncopated funky-ish groove in the main part of the tune that lives up to its name. Also includes the title track, "After The Cosmic Rain", "Captain Senor Mouse", "Theme To The Mothership" and "The Game Maker". Where Have I Known You Before is hard grooving work from the middle years of the Return To Forever group – featuring the line up with Chick Corea on keys, synths & percussion, Stanley Clarke on bass, organ and more, Lenny White on percussion and Al DiMeola on guitars. The title may lead you to believe the set is a mellow one, centered on themes of introspection given some of the song titles, but it's actually a fairly walloping set of spacey jazz rock – with heavy drums, funky bass & synths. Titles include "Vulcan Worlds", "Where Have I Loved You Before", "The Shadow Of The Lo", "Where Have I Danced With You Before", "Beyond The Seventh Galaxy", "Earth Juice" and "Song To The Pharoah Kings". No Mystery is another Return To Forever record – featuring the lineup with Chick Corea on keys, synths & percussion, Stanley Clarke on bass, organ and more, Lenny White on percussion and Al DiMeola on guitar. As you'd expect from this crew, this is some of the hardest hitting cosmic fusion that the group ever cut! Titles include "Dayride", "Jungle Waterfall", "Flight Of The Newborn", "Sofistifunk" and "Excerpt From The First Movement Of Heavy Metal". Last is the record My Spanish Heart – cast in some darker, more contemplative tones than more traditional Latin sides – but it borrows a wonderful array of modes from genres past – including bits of strings, percussion, and an overall more ambitious approach that sometimes shows up in Chick's piano work, or in the general construction of the tunes. CD

The whole thing's very unique – not like any other Deodato album – and it was partly recorded in New York, with help from Phil Bodner and Romeo Penque on saxes and flute, and trumpet from Marvin Stamm. Possibly the greatest album ever from the enigmatic Lloyd Miller – his legendary Oriental Jazz album from the late 60s, and a really wonderful blend of musical modes! Some of the tracks here really stretch out in the Eastern promise of the title – mixing jazz rhythms with santur, oud, zarb, and other unusual instrumentation – all in ways that are modal one minute, meditative the next, and which even echo gamelan styles on one tune! As you can see by the title, Royal's blowing here with a larger group led by Gordon Jenkins – but the style's never as sleepy as some of Jenkins' other work, thanks to some strong jazz presence by players who include Hank Jones on piano, Freddie Green on guitar, and Sonny Payne on drums. A string section and vocal group slide into some of the tracks, but the main focus is still on Marshall's solos – snaking through the record with a timeless sound that's almost exotic at points. Titles include "Caravan", "Birth Of The Blues", "Intermezzo", "Blue Prelude", "Battle Royal", "Black Coffee", and "Pagan Love Song". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All StarsJazz Rolls Royce (Omega pressing) ... LP
Omega, 1957. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A great little record – and one that gets past the over-used "Howard Rumsey Lighthouse" name, to move into a set of 50s west coast jazz at its best! The core group features Bob Cooper, Frank Rosolino, Stu Williamson, Stan Levy, Victor Feldman, and Rumsey – and for the session, they're joined by 10 additional players, including Larry Bunker, Red Callender, Milt Bernhart, and Pete Candoli. The sound is a bit like Shorty Rogers larger group sides with The Giants – but the tunes are all pretty long, 5 minutes or more, and there's a bit more room for open solos from the best players in the group. Williamson frankly sounds better than we even remember hearing on his own albums, and Bunker adds in some great work on vibes. Titles include "Mambo Del Quado", "The Clown's Dance", "Prelude To The Queen", and "Bruinville My Bruinville". LP, Vinyl record album
(Red label stereo pressing with deep groove. Cover has light wear and a bit of pen on back.)

✨✧ Nina SimoneAmazing Nina Simone ... LP
Colpix, 1959. Sealed ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Amazing is right – as Nina Simone is really taking off here – showing the world that she's way more than just another jazz singer – able to hit some righteous currents that would only explode even more in years to come! Nina's emotion is subtle, but extremely powerful – maybe not as bold as in her late 60s recordings, but already very much part of the performance – even on some of the more standard jazz tunes. Arrangements are by Bob Mersey, and titles include "Blue Prelude", "You've Been Gone Too Long", "Chilly Winds Don't Blow", "Can't Get Out Of This Mood", and "That's Him Over There". LP, Vinyl record album
(180 gram 4 Men With Beards pressing from 2005.)

✨✧ Lonnie Liston SmithLive! ... CD
RCA (Japan), 1977. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The mighty Lonnie Liston Smith live – sounding every bit as great as he did on his famous studio sessions from the 70s – and maybe even more freewheeling too! The feel of the record is really tremendous – extremely soulful, with Lonnie jamming away on keyboards as the band grooves up these cool spacey rhythms – stepping out in territory that's definitely the more cosmic side of jazz funk, with those righteous currents that always made Lonnie so great. The whole thing's wonderful – with loads of great electric work, and an overall spiritual vibe that's every bit as great as his albums for Flying Dutchman – and players include Donald Smith on flute and a bit of vocals, Dave Hubbard on tenor and soprano sax, and Lonnie himself on Fender Rhodes, clavinet, and Arp. The set includes a nice extended take on "Visions of A New World", plus the tracks "Watercolors", "Sorceress" – which isn't on any of his studio albums, "Prelude", and the classic "Expansions". CD
(Out of print, includes obi.)

✨✧ Thaione DavisApril January ... CD
Enviromentally Sound, 2003. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A sweet little groover of an instrumentals set from Chicago's Thaione Davis. April January is a mellow, trippy, sampledelic platter of soundscapes from start to finish, cut with some nice dialogue samples that set the cool, cool vibe very nicely. All told, it's a jazzy, beat-thumping set with a bit of a filmic vibe. Nice! 18 tracks in all, including ""Winter Springs", "Prelude", "Afternoon In Greece", "29 February", "The Verve", "Careless", "Paper Mache" and more! CD

✨✧ Bobby TimmonsLive At The Connecticut Jazz Party ... LP
Chiaroscuro, Early 60s. Very Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
An obscure live set from pianist Bobby Timmons – recorded most likely in the early 60s, at a house party in Connecticut – but not issued until after his early death! The album's got an open quality that's quite different than some of Timmons studio work – almost a bit more introspective and pianistic, if we can use that word in mixed company. Bobby's working with a core trio of Sam Jones on bass and Mickey Roker on drums – in a mode that's a lot looser than his soul jazz sets, and which seems to free him from the stock modes of some of his hits – and let him explore a lot wider range on the keyboards. Another treat is the added bonus of Sonny Red – who joins the group on the album's 3 longer tracks, playing in that wonderfully flattened tone of his – an odd one, but a sound that comes off with an incredible edge that we really love. Titles include "Here's That Rainy Day", "Now's The Time", "Moanin", and "Prelude To A Kiss". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a small cut corner.)

✨✧ D TrainMiracles Of The Heart ... LP
Columbia, 1986. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
James D-Train Williams' first album for a major label – and a really great follow-up to the indie success of his initial recordings for Prelude Records! The style here is very similar to the clubby grooves of D-Train's earlier sides – thanks to strong keyboards, production, and songwriting help from Hubert Eaves – the jazzy talent who helped give Williams' his trademark groove! Instrumentation veers slightly more towards mainstream 80s soul at times, but the Eaves' sound is still very firmly in place here – and titles include the groovers "Oh How I Love You (Girl)", "Misunderstanding", and "Let Me Love You" – plus "You Are Everything", "I Got Your Number", "Stand Up & Fight", and "Miracle Of The Heart". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the original lyric sleeve.)
