A pivotal album from Iggy Pop – a set that's done with lots of fuzzy guitar production from Chris Stein, in a way that shows plenty of his influence on the music – but with a feel that's plenty Iggy overall! The record represents a strong bridge between the Bowie-produced years and that crossover sound that would make Pop huge at the end of the 80s – almost like he's trying out catchier hooks and bolder rhythmic patterns, yet without going for any commercial modes at all. There's a roughness to the whole proceedings that's really compelling – especially when Iggy tries to sing more than shout or speak – and titles include "Angry Hills", "Run Like A Villain", "Eat Or Be Eaten", "Bulldozer", "Platonic", "The Horse Song", "Street Crazies", and "Watching The News".
