✨✧ Archie SheppBlase/Live At The Pan-African Festival ... CD
BYG/Fuel 2000, 1969. Used 2 CDs ... Out Of Stock
2 landmark Archie Shepp albums in one package! Blase is filled with long, spiritual tracks that comprise some of his best European recordings of the decade, and the titles include "There is a Balm in Gilead", "Touareg", and "My Angel". The group includes Jeanne Lee on vocals, plus Lester Bowie, Malachi Favors, Dave Burrell, and Philly Joe Jones – and the whole thing has that great Paris spiritual free jazz party feel to it! Live At The Pan-African Festival was recorded in Algiers during the Pan-African Festival in 1969. The recording is a very unique one, and features Shepp's group with Grachan Moncur, Clifford Thorton, and Dave Burrell – plus lots of Algerian musicians! The sound is haunting, and the record really stands apart from Shepp's other BYG albums. Titles include "We Have Come Back" and "Brotherhood at Ketchaoua". CD

DJ Jazzy JeffReturn Of The Magnificent ... LP
BBE/Rapster (UK), 2007. Near Mint- 2LP ... $59.99
DJ Jazzy Jeff returns – with a top shelf roster or MCs doing justice to his Philly soul reared, bedrock beatcraft – including Big Daddy Kane, Method Man, Rhymefest, Jean Grae, Kardinall Offishall, CL Smooth, Pos of De La Soul and more – underground spitters and mic icons alike! We don't know if Jazz tailors his beats for the chosen MCs – or if he seeks out the appropriate MCs for his ready-made material – but whatever his methods, they're still working well. Return Of The Magnificent is a standard bearing effort! Titles include "Hip Hop" feat Twone Gabz, "Let Me Hear U Clap" feat Pos from De La Soul, "Run That Back" feat Eshon Burgundy & Black Ice, "Jeff N Fess" feat Rhymefest, "Practice" feat J Live, "Supa Jean" feat Jean Grae, "The Garden" feat Big Daddy Kane, "Hold It Down" feat Method Man, "My Soul Ain't For Sale" feat Raheem DeVaugh, "Cone On feat Dave Ghetto, "Brand New Funk 2K7" feat Peedi Peedi and more1 LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ VariousAin't Nothing But A House Party – 60s Soul & Northern Classics ... CD
Sequel (UK), Late 60s/Early 70s. Used ... Out Of Stock
A massive amount of rare Northern Soul cuts – almost all of them from the Heritage Records empire of producer Jerry Ross! There's plenty of Philly elements in the mix, but the set also shows Jerry's good ear for crossing over into other camps too – and some of these tunes also have a sound that would have been right at home in the Detroit scene of the late 60s. A few numbers are even rock/pop cuts, but still work very well in the context of the soul material – and the CD features 20 titles that include "Green Grow the Lilacs" by The Festivals, "Ain't Nothin' But A House Party" by The Showstoppers, "I Dig Everything About You" by The Mob, "You Gave Me Somebody To Love" by The Dreamlovers, "Loan Shark" by Chapter One, "I Get By Without You" by Kenny Gamble & Tommy Bell, "Baby Show It" by The Festivals, "Bok To Bach" by Father's Angels, "Eeny Meeny" by The Showstoppers, "Pick Up My Toys" by The Devonnes, "I've Been Hurt" by Bill Deal & The Rhondels, and "You Aint' Sayin' Nothin' New" by Virgil Henry. ✨✧ Elmo HopeFinal Sessions Vol 2 (Japanese pressing) ... LP
Specialty (Japan), 1966. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The last work ever recorded by pianist Elmo Hope – one of the most brilliant modernist talents of his generation, right up there with Monk and Herbie Nichols for sheer inventiveness. We've always loved the long sinuous lines he spun on piano, though Hope spent most of his career in obscurity, despite extremely strong critical response to his work – and he died at the age of 45 from pneumonia. The material here was recorded in 1966 for the Festival label – and feature Hope working with a trio that includes John Orr on bass and Clifford Jarvis on drums, with some occasional guest work on drums by Philly Joe Jones. Titles include two takes of ""Elmo's Blues", "A Kiss For My Love", "Stellations", "Night In Tunisia", and "I Love You". LP, Vinyl record album
