✨✧ Nils Petter MolvaerNP3 ... CD
CD Media (Russia), 2002. Used ... Out Of Stock
The third album by Nils Petter Molvaer – another groundbreaking set from the current Norweigian scene! Nils plays trumpet in a moody and atmospheric way that recalls some of the 70s work of Harold Budd, but he's also working in a mode that's much more modern and experimental, slightly groove-oriented at times, and darkly quiet at others. The album features guest artists that include Eivind Aarset, Rune Arnsen, Sidsel Endressen, TeeBee, and Audun Erlien – and tracks include "Tabula Rasa", "Nebulizer", "Simply So", "Marrow", "Hurry Slowly", and "Frozen". ✨✧ Pippo CarusoPorci Con La P38 (180 gram red vinyl pressing) ... LP
BTF (Italy), 1978. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Very obscure sounds from a very obscure Italian crime film of the 70s – issued here for the first time ever! The music has a great vibe – slinky, but also a bit offbeat – with some of those odd tunings of the piano that you might hear in an Ennio Morricone score when he was still keeping things groovy, but wanting to set a nice edge – spun out nicely here amidst some gentle strings and other unusual sounds! The whole thing's great – a real lost treasure that finally sees the light of day – with titles that include "Lo Spinello", "In Discoteca", "Overdose", "L'Inseguimento Finale", "Nel Vecchio Mulino", "Titoli Di Coda", "La Droga Uccide", and "L'Agguato Al Corriere". Bob Marley & The WailersCatch A Fire (3LP/12" single set) ... LP
Island, 1973. New Copy 4LP ... $81.99 89.99
The first Bob Marley album on Island Records – and the start of a really legendary run that would not only transform reggae in the 70s, but the rest of popular music as well! Chris Blackwell's partially at the helm on production, but the album was mostly recorded in classic Kingston studios – Randy's, Dynamic, and Harry J's – and retains the same vibe as some of Marley's earlier work, but with more of the forward-thinking vision he brought to his time at Island. Bunny Livingston lays down some excellent percussion on the set – and rhythm is from the team of Aston and Carlton Barrett on bass and drums. Titles include the classic "Stir It Up" – plus "Slave Driver", "Kinky Reggae", "High Tide Or Low Tide", and "Concrete Jungle". Very cool 3LP/12" edition – comes in a box, with new notes and rare photos! LP2 features a rare live set recorded in London at the Paris Theater in 1973. LP3 features more unreleased tracks – eight from the sessions, including Jamaican alternative and extended versions of "Slave Driver", "Stop That Train", "No More Trouble", "Stir It Up", "400 Years", and "High Tide Or Low Tide" – and the bonus 12" single features three more unreleased live tracks from 1973! LP, Vinyl record album
(50th Anniversary edition, includes 24 page booklet, bonus tracks, and features a cool etching on one of the LPs!)

Some of the earliest work ever done by the young Sam Cooke – served up here in a really special package! LP2 features the famous Shrine Auditorium Concert by the group from 1955 – with the cuts "I Have A Friend Above All Others", "Be With Jesus", and "Nearer To Thee". ✨✧ Hi RhythmOn The Loose (with download) ... LP
Hi Records/Fat Possum, 1976. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A great little album of southern funk from the 70s – cut by the team that provided musical backing on many of the classic Hi Records sessions from the time! The groove is a bit different than usual for Hi – not compressed, burning deep soul – but tight, funky, and flanged-out – a bit like what classic P-Funk might have been like, had it been recorded in Memphis! The group's super sharp in their playing – with great bass and electric keyboards – but they've also got kind of a trippy feel that's very surprising, given the more restrained soul quality of much of the stuff on Hi. The album's all original material, and most cuts have cool vocals slinking in and out of the funk – and titles include "On The Loose", "Skinny Dippin'", "Superstar", "Purple Raindrops", and "You Got Me Comin".
