The full tenor battle from a legendary Jazz At The Philharmonic show in September of 1947 – one that featured Illinois Jacquet and Flip Phillips locking horns over a set of really extended tracks! The two tenorists are clearly the stars of the show from the space they get here, but the other players are great too – and include Howard McGhee on trumpet, Bill Harris on trombone, Hank Jones on piano, Ray Brown on bass, and Jo Jones on drums – all rolling out in long spontaneous tunes that show that the JATP sessions could really cook when they wanted to!
