Stolen Moments ... CD Steeplechase (Denmark), 1979. Used ...
Out Of Stock
A sweet set that has Jimmy's guitar matched with that of son Doug – both players working rhythm and melody, and skipping around each other in this joyous way that's quite different from some of Jim's earlier work. That sublime Raney tone is still very firmly in place – but it's matched by the youthful energy of Doug, too – and given a gentle swing that's really appreciated, thanks to work from Michael Moore on bass and Billy Hart on drums. Titles include "Jonathan's Waltz", "Stolen Moments", "I Should Care", "Samba Teekens", and "Alone Together". CD

Kenny Burrell & JimmyRaney —
Two Guitars ... LP Prestige, Mid 50s. Very Good+ ...
Out Of Stock
A wonderful album by these two jazz guitarists – and one that features them playing in a much harder mode than usual! The album's cut in the open-ended style of some of the Prestige jam session sets – with a very able group that includes Mal Waldron, Art Taylor, Doug Watkins, Donald Byrd, and Jackie McLean. Titles include "This Way", "Little Melonae", "Blue Duke", and "Pivot" – and Raney's tone is especially nice! LP, Vinyl record album
(NYC 50th Street pressing, with RVG stamp and deep groove – in great shape! Side two has a short click, but record is great overall. Cover has a bit of splitting on top seam, but looks great too.)
