No Em Pingo D'agua & Cristovao Bastos —
Domingo Na Geral ... CD Lumiar (Brazil), 2001. Used ...

A set of warm and jazzy instrumental tunes, with plenty of traces of more traditional Brazilian music – performed by the group No Em Pingo D'Agua, joined on this occasion by pianist Cristovao Bastos. The feel is light and free, with plenty of interplay between piano, guitar, and flute – and titles include "Amigo Bandolim", "Valsa Dos Peixes", "De Um No", "Merci Nanci", "De Soslaio", "Travessuras De Maira", and "Domingo Na Geral". CD
A mellow set of sensitive interpretations of classic Jobim material, sung by the great Brazilian vocalist Leny Andrade, with backing by Cristova Bastos on piano. The set's mostly just voice and piano, and it's one of the mellowest Jobim tributes we've ever heard – sort of as if you were catching a nice after-hours set at a smoky nightclub in Rio (and believe us, if you've heard Leny's voice, that club must be pretty darn smoky!) Titles include "Vivo Sonhando", "Fotografia", "Wave", "Aguas De Marco", "Samba Do Aviao", "Ana Luiza", and "Outra Vez". CD

An overlooked gem from Chico's mid 80s period – a record filled with strong and subtle songs, often backed by some nicely jazz-tinged arrangements from Cristovao Bastos! The album's not as revolutionary as some of Chico's earlier records, but it more than makes up for that with an incredibly solid quality overall – and a mature, sophisticated approach to songwriting that easily matches some of Caetano Veloso's best work of the same time. Titles include "Pleas Tabelas", "Samba Do Grande Amor", "Mil Perdoes", "Vai Passar", "As Cartas", and "Suburbano Coracao". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the heavy inner sleeve. Cover has edge & surface wear.)

A grand tribute to the work of Vinicius De Moraes – sung by Miucha, the vocalist who recorded some great albums with Vinicius and Jobim in the 70s! The set's done in a lush and dreamy style – that sophisticated approach to classic bossa done on many recent sessions from the Biscoito Fino label. Miucha sings with an assortment of guest stars – including Bebel Gilberto, Toquinho, Daniel Jobim, Zeca Pagodinho, and Chico Buarque – and arrangements are by Cristovao Bastos, Leandro Braga, and Eduardo Souto Neto. Titles include "Tomara", "Tempo Sera", "Cancao De Nos Dois", "Cem Por Cento", "Valsa De Euridice", "Georgiana", "Serenata Do Adeus", and "Ai Quem Me Dera". CD
