The first-ever appearance of brothers Thad
Jones, Hank
Jones, and Elvin
Jones on the same recording date – working here with the addition of Eddie
Jones on bass – not related to the family, but thrown in for good measure as an extra
Jones! Despite that gimmicky nature of the set, the album's actually a great one – stripped-down and sometimes raw, with an energy that's different than the sweeter tones of Hank's own records, and which offers some especially great room for Thad to open up and do his thing. Titles are all
Jones-penned – some by Thad, and some by
Isham Jones as well – with tracks that include "Sput N Jeff", "Nice & Easy", "It HadTo Be You", "Three & One", and "Keeping Up With The
Joneses".
